The Best Protein 💪
The DIAAS was created in 2011 by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation) to replace the outdated, less accurate PDCAAS (Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score).
Its purpose is to determine the quality of protein in human foods. It measures the digestibility of amino acids at the end of the small intestine.
‘Digestible Indispensable Amino Acid Score (DIAAS): 10 years on’ is a recent meta analysis published in 2024 by Paul J Moughan et. al. Which concluded:
“Currently DIAAS is the most accurate means to routinely give a single protein quality value for a stand-alone food.”
