Arena of Ability Support Services Pty Ltd (AASS) is a registered NDIS Provider operating in Queensland. At AASS, we are committed to working with NDIS Participants and their support networks to get the most of their NDIS plan and achieve greater independence. We strive to ensure that our NDIS Participants' choice and control work properly for them. Due to recent business growth, newly created positions have been established to support the organisation's expansion in Salisbury.

About the opportunity
As a Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring our NDIA Participants are supported to achieve their goals as identified in their NDIS plans, enabling greater independence. You will help bring each participants’ NDIS plan to life. You will provide assistance to strengthen participants’ ability to coordinate and implement their supports, help participants to strengthen their informal networks, and coordinate a range of services, including funded and mainstream supports.

In this role you will:
- Build capacity and implement all supports in a participant's NDIS plan
- Negotiate appropriate support and services, review service agreements and connect participants with community and mainstream services
- Monitor service agreements, schedules of support, and other plan commitments to remain informed of financial commitments and the potential effects
- Report back to the NDIA on the outcome and goals, as required
- Coordinate supports for individuals and families within their homes and in the community
- Collaborate and liaise with internal and external service providers
- Assist participants to develop and maintain positive relationships with friends, family, service providers, and supports
- Have a demonstrated understanding of the NDIS and experience managing funded plans
- Provide participants with assistance to: resolve problems or issues that arise; understand their responsibilities under service agreements; change or end a service agreement; etc
- Assist the participant to prepare for plan reviews:
- Help participants decide on what actions to take to achieve goals in relation to daily living skills, life transition planning, social participation, etc.
- Be based out of an office in Salisbury.

Qualifications:
- A qualification in Human Services, or other relevant qualification and experience supporting people with disability.
- Current First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
- Undergo criminal history screening and obtain and maintain a positive notice and NDIS worker screening clearance to the Disability Services Act 2006 (Qld)
- Current Drivers Licence

Skills:
- Previous experience working with people who have a disability and their support network
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in customer service and administration
- Relevant experience in coordinating responsive individualised support to participants with complex needs and their families within the NDIS.
- A commitment to person-centred and family centred practice and maximising the opportunities and support of participants with disabilities and their families within their local communities.
- A sound understanding of relevant legislation, NDIS procedural guidelines, and the full range of community services that may be required by participants.
- Awareness of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and/or multiple disabilities
- Proficient use in Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Related Databases
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders and prepare detailed reports.
- Ability to take initiative, organise, plan and prioritise work
- High level of organisational skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines
- Prepared to be proactive and follow up with clients as they select a provider
- Ability to listen and ask questions to understand a clients' needs and match them with one of our services
- Strong skills in establishing, maintaining and reporting on systems and processes
- Demonstrated experience in support planning, working within a person-centred Framework.
- Able to work autonomously and within the team.

Amy has a Master's degree in Social Work from the Queensland University of Technology. She has experience providing direct care to NDIS participants as a disability support worker and has recently stepped up and taken on the role has a support coordinator at Arena of Ability Support Services. Amy is eager to help Vietnamese families and children with disabilities in accessing disability services. She hopes her work can make a positive impact on children with disabilities, especially within the Vietnamese community.

Amy was born in a coastal city in Vietnam called Danang and has recently come to Brisbane to pursue a career in social work. She previously studied and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in International Business. She is fluent in Vietnamese and English.

Amy has taken her enthusiasm for life into her role as support coordinator, rounding off the current team as the youngest member and bringing her great sense of humour into the office.

Daniel has a bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Queensland. Dan specialised in mental health in his...

Daniel has a bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Queensland. Dan specialised in mental health in his degree and has taken that interest onboard into his work as a Support Coordinator here at Arena of Ability Support Services. Dan has experience working in Community Managed Mental Health organisations and as a Supported Independent Living Mental Health Support Worker. Daniel always remains calm in stressful situations and is able to assess and devised an appropriate solution.

Daniel has extensive knowledge of mental health conditions and services available to assist and support participants on the NDIS. He is always looking to expand his knowledge in the mental health section and strives to work towards obtaining his mental health accreditation.

Outside of work Dan enjoys video games and the occasional camping trip with his mates. Daniel is very witty and can embarrass anyone in any situation.

Dan was once ranked in the top 5000 Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 players world-wide for 2.5 nights

Dan has great knowledge of movies and would be a great addition to any trivia team

Peter (Quang) graduated from UQ with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 2019. Coming from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, Peter is passionate about reaching out to the Vietnamese community in his role as support coordinator and assisting people to navigate their way around the NDIS. Peter is bi-lingual in English and Vietnamese and has also completed an introductory course in Auslan.

Peter predominantly works with children as well as Vietnamese families in connecting them up with appropriate disability service providers. Peter is keen on getting the Arena of Ability name out in the community and can often be seen out and about in a company car and networking events.
