•Hello and welcome to term one!•

Special thoughts and a hug to those Mums and Dads who have waved their little ones off to big school for the first time either yesterday, or this morning. I have no doubt your cherubs will come home this afternoon bursting with stories and excitement of their day, or maybe you’ll get a nod or a “good”, and that’s ok too.

My four went off for their first days yesterday in grades 2, 4, 6 and 8. I love school holidays and we had a lot of fun camping and at the beach, but gosh I’m ready and excited to be back into the clinic.

I am so looking forward to hearing all about your holidays and seeing your beautiful faces soon.

Miss Michelle 🌼

•Merry Christmas•

I wish you all a very safe and special Christmas and school holidays. I hope there is plenty of time for laughter, play and rest.

Thank you for yet another amazing year as you entrusted me into the lives of your little cherubs and your families; an honour that I will always be grateful for.

I look forward to seeing you all next year, but for now, it is time for some Christmas baking, ocean swims, kayak fishing, backyard cricket, a spot of camping and slushies in the pool with my own four little cherubs, my hubster and our Charlie-Rose 🐶 🌊 🏏 🏕️ 🍹.

•PSA to fellow speechies and parents in week 9•

Sleigh 🛷 . We can do this!

•Even if you were chasing a dog around the front yard in your pjs at 2.30am 🙋‍♀️
•If you’ve answered the 100th question, intervened in a brawl and put music on to drown out the bickering, all before coffee 🙋‍♀️
•If your client tells you “you have spikes” on your legs 🙋‍♀️ (I’ll take the perfect use of an s-blend and plural)
•If your week has already consisted of juggling work with special school assemblies, swim carnivals and ballet concerts 🙋‍♀️

•Fave resource appreciation 🤍•

This book is SO great and has been used in a heap of different ways this week in the clinic as we ‘slow launch’ Christmas.

🎄 Following directions- simple and complex
🎄Increasing attention to books
🎄Vocabulary- nouns, verbs and adjectives!
🎄Semantic links and categories
🎄Answering ‘wh’ questions
🎄Social cues and feelings
🎄Speech! There’s heaps of ‘s blends’ and the old favourites /k/ and /g/ for fronting
🎄Retell- so many opportunities for little cherubs to relate their own experiences to the book

Highly recommend for parents and speechies- Kmart $10 👏

•uhm 🙋‍♀️ I have a question? And maybe a comment…or 10….•

True story. In a room full of parents last night 🤦‍♀️.

There was also the nugget of “In my day there weren’t as many kids diagnosed?”🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Followed by a comment about kids being over diagnosed with ADHD, “that is caused by the child’s environment” 😳 (insert WTF).

The actual opinion of a well known Australian “parenting expert” and “low key celebrity” as he referred to himself 🤯.

I had no words, and SO many words all at the same time. If it hadn’t been time up, I think my MANY words may have just come out of my mouth.

•Halloween•

A monster mash, creepy craft, a haunted house, hide and spook, scary boo-ks, jumping critters and escaped zombies in the clinic this week!

Lots of fun and so many smiles- a few jumps from Miss Michelle when the decorations fall off the wall😱.

Happy Halloween to you all 👻 🕷️ 🎃

•Term 4 ☀️•

I hope you all had a lovely break with your families. I’m sufficiently covered in sunburn, mosquito bites and some cuts and bruises from a mad stack on a kids scooter- time to be back in the clinic!

Can’t wait to see you all for my favorite term of all 🎃 🎄 🎅.

Where the words “too sweet for me” and also, “someone put me up a double shot of whiskey” are equally valid.

•Week 10•
Brought to you by caffeine ☕️ .

Thank you for another wonderful term with your beautiful little cherubs (we’re nearly there!). I always find term 3 to be the most taxing on everyone 😅. It’s so nice to see the sun out now (mind the magpies!) and hopefully the end of all the winter bugs.

Bring on the school holidays ☀️ 🌊 🏕️
