Most OTs aren’t disorganised, they’re overloaded by the tiny things no one trained us to account for.

These hidden tasks add up fast and often explain why your week feels heavier than it looks on paper.
👉 overloaded inboxes
👉 “little tasks” that pile up
👉 last-minute goal changes
When you name these drains, you can actually do something about them.

1️⃣Check your inbox 2–3 times a day instead of constantly. 30 minutes each time.
2️⃣Group all “just a quick favour” tasks into one admin block. Make it the end of the day or the first thing tomorrow.
3️⃣Confirm goals early so you don’t rewrite half your plan later.
Small fixes, big impact.

Save this for the weeks when everything feels one step behind, and check out my article on where OTs lose the most time each week… and how to get it back:

The holidays can be a hard time.
Services slow down, routines change, and support can feel harder to find.

I’ve pulled together mental health support options that are still available over the holiday period, including phone, online, and local services across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, and SEQ. 🎄

If you’re an OT, this is one worth saving and sharing with clients.
If you’re someone who’s struggling right now, support is still there, even if things feel quieter than usual.

Swipe through, save it somewhere easy to find, and pass it on to anyone who might need it.

And if someone is in immediate danger, call 000.

You don’t have to carry this alone.

If the next stage of your OT career feels unclear, you’re not the only one.

Here’s one small thing that helps:
Spend 15 minutes exploring ONE direction you’re curious about.
Not the “right” direction.
Not the “impressive” one.
The one that feels interesting.
Curiosity builds clarity.
Clarity builds excitement. 💫

Only 3% of OTs in the OT Career Check said they feel genuinely excited about what comes next, leaving 97% somewhere between “uncertain” and “just getting through the day.”

If you’re sitting in the 97%, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck or lost.
It usually means your interests, values, or goals have shifted… but your role hasn’t shifted with you.

18/12/2025

If you’ve been feeling lost in your OT career, you’re not the only one.

Uncertainty shows up when:
👉 you’ve changed as a person
👉 your values have shifted
👉 your interests have evolved
👉 the job you started in isn’t the job you want now
👉 you’ve been reacting to demand instead of choosing your path

Here’s the first step to getting your direction back:
Ask yourself…
What part of OT actually lights me up?
Not what you should enjoy.
Not what your team needs.
Not what you’re good at by default.
What genuinely feels meaningful, energising, or “I want more of this”?
That answer becomes your compass. 🧭
Start there, and build your next step around it.

In the OT Career Check, more than half of OTs said they don’t feel confident about where their career is heading.
That’s not a failure.
It’s a sign that your work has grown, but your direction hasn’t grown with it yet.

If you’re one of the OTs sitting in that uncertainty, you’re not behind, you’re ready for clarity.
What’s one part of OT you’d like more of?

17/12/2025

There’s a whole side of OT that never gets talked about.

These roles sit outside day-to-day client work but still use your clinical mind, your judgement, and your ability to solve problems.

If you’re starting to feel boxed in, this list is worth keeping.
There are more ways to grow in OT than most of us were ever shown. ✨

Which of these roles sparks your curiosity? 💭

If you’re an OT, you probably don’t need more stuff.

You need a way of working that gives you balance, support, breathing room, and a bit of energy left at the end of the day. That’s what this post is really about.

The final slide matters most.
Clarity doesn’t always mean leaving OT. Sometimes it just means seeing how another team works and noticing what feels different.

Our Work With Us page is there if you want to take a look. No expectations. No pressure.
Just a clear picture of how we work. 🐧

Stress doesn’t hit in one big moment.
It creeps in quietly, hours or days before you notice it. 🚩

Here’s one thing that helps right away:
Block a single 10-minute buffer into tomorrow.
Just one gap to breathe, reset, and slow your system down.

Most OTs in The OT Career Check told us they miss the early red flags because the day never stops. Some of the most common signs:
👉 Rushing even when you’re not late
👉 Avoiding your calendar
👉 Getting irritated at small tasks
👉 Feeling tired before the day even starts

It’s simple, but it stops stress before it spikes.
Which red flag do you recognise most?

🎄Holiday essentials that actually get used. 🎄

If you’re buying for an OT (or you are the OT), this is your no-fluff list. Practical, comfortable, calming and genuinely helpful for long days, busy brains and end-of-year fatigue.

What’s inside this guide:
👜 A big, practical tote that fits real life, not just lunch
👟 Slip-on shoes that survive long days on your feet
📅 A small daily reminder to slow things down (Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff calendar)
💆‍♀️A self-care gift most people won’t buy for themselves

This is not a sponsored post, just some things I love that I know you will too.

Saving this for later, sharing with someone who’s hard to buy for, or quietly sending it as a hint all count.

What would you add to your OT gift guide this year?

OTs, here’s your daily reminder.

If work has been taking more from you than it gives back, you’re not the only one.

Try this today:
Take one 10-minute mental reset between your heaviest two clients. No phone, no notes, no “just quickly”. Just a reset.

It sounds small, but it stops you running on fumes.

Only a tiny fraction of OTs in The OT Career Check said their work genuinely supports their mental health. Most are carrying more than anyone sees.

When the load gets heavy, motivation drops. Small tasks feel bigger. Breaks disappear. Your nervous system never gets a chance to reset.

What do you think you need more of right now?
