“It just happens naturally… right?” 🚽
Not quite 😅

Toileting is actually a mix of many different skills, and each one takes time to develop.

Your child is learning to:
✔ Notice when their body needs to go
✔ Communicate that need
✔ Remember and follow the steps
✔ Move their body (sit, wipe, flush)
✔ Manage clothing quickly
✔ Relax enough to fully go

If one part feels tricky, that’s okay, it’s all part of the process 💛

Supporting these small skills builds something big: independence and confidence.

The 5 year old that drew this has been working hard over the past 9 months to understand when her body needs to poo.🥺

In our ‘classroom’ session we were teaching the toys all about what this. Miss 5 did a brilliant drawing to explain just what needing to do a poo feels like.
You’ve got this!!!! 😁

“Wait… I’m not finished!” 😅

Sound familiar?

For many kids, stopping feels like the end.
But “pause” feels different, it’s safe, flexible, and they know they can come back.

That one small word can help your child:
✔ Tune into their body (hungry, thirsty, need the toilet)
✔ Pause a game without frustration
✔ Move between activities more smoothly

Try phrases like:
👉 “Let’s pause and grab a drink, we’ll come right back.”
👉 “Pause your game, your body needs a quick toilet break.”

Because learning to pause isn’t just behaviour…
it’s building awareness, independence, and confidence 💛
