AUTUMN ALLERGIES ARE HERE—AND THEY'RE HITTING KIDS HARD.
As we head into autumn, pollen counts spike, air quality shifts, and suddenly kids are sneezing, coughing, and struggling to breathe.
If your child has allergies or asthma, you already know the stress. But here's what many parents miss: allergic reactions can escalate FAST.
**Early signs of an allergic reaction:**
🤧 Itchy eyes, nose, throat
🤧 Sneezing or coughing fits
🤧 Swelling (lips, face, throat)
🤧 Difficulty breathing or wheezing
🤧 Skin rashes or hives
🤧 Stomach pain or vomiting
**What to do:**
✅ Move them away from the trigger (pollen, pet, food)
✅ Give antihistamine if prescribed
✅ Monitor breathing closely
✅ If swelling or breathing difficulty: call 000 immediately
✅ Have their rescue inhaler ready (if asthmatic)
**Prevention is key:**
✅ Know your child's triggers
✅ Keep medications accessible
✅ Monitor pollen forecasts
✅ Clean bedding regularly
✅ Consider air filters at home
Childcare centres and schools—make sure your staff know how to recognise and respond to allergic reactions. It could save a life.
