Spent my day in a Arena that has a soft spot in my heart.
At the Demolition and Asbestos Industry Association (QLD) AGM.
I have been a member and board member of DAIA since it inception. Previous to that I held board positions on its two previous Associations before they combined.
Being a active member in this association has assisted in my gaining valuable industry knowledge so when I stand in front of my classroom, teaching correct asbestos techniques.
To be up-to-date with current regulations and safety procedures is critical to me as I have a passion for teaching safety around asbestos as my father is suffering from his time working from Asbestos products.
However asbestos is only one of the many Workplace Hazards the DAIA information sessions cover to assist our members managing their compliance needs.
Today's speaker from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland brought the 80 Member’s in attendance up to speed with the new Regulations changes in Queensland around Noise hazards, control measures, audiometric testing that came into effect on the 29th of July 2025.
I for my first time also sponsored the event.
In doing so I was able to give insight into my Training and Testing company's new testing line.
We have geared up to supply Audiometric Base line testing at our Nundah Training Centre.
This new service has been introduced as a compliment to our existing Quantive Respirator and Ear Plug Fit Testing service's.
In addition to this, we also can assist in any awareness training our clients require for their staff.
