Today, Australia observes a National Day of Mourning to honour the victims of the Bondi terrorist attack. In faith, we remember that light will win. Please join in a nationwide minute’s silence at 7:01pm.
Archbishop Shane Mackinlay writes: "On this National Day of Mourning for the victims of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack, I join Australians around the country in remembering and praying for those who were killed or injured at Bondi. I pray also for their families and loved ones, who will carry their loss and suffering into the years ahead.
The Chabad Community in Bondi have chosen a powerful theme for this evening's national memorial service: “Light will win, a gathering of unity and remembrance.” This service will be live-streamed, and gives us all an opportunity to share our grief, to give thanks for the courage and generosity of those who assisted or intervened at the time of the attack, and to commit ourselves to building a society in which people of all faiths and cultures feel welcome, respected and safe."
