Yesterday, Eye‑Tech Day Surgeries Southside was proud to host Eye on the Front: Anterior Segment Updates and what a fantastic turnout it was.

The event featured leading ophthalmic surgeons Dr James McAlister and Dr John Hogden, who shared valuable insights and updates on anterior segment care through engaging and informative presentations.

We welcomed 94 attendees, joining us both onsite and online, with a great mix of optometrists and ophthalmic nurses, making for thoughtful discussion and strong engagement throughout the evening.

Thank you to our presenters for sharing their expertise, to Alcon for their support, and to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event.

We are delighted to welcome ophthalmologist Dr Nicola Glasson to Eye Tech Day Surgeries.

Dr Glasson is an Australian‑trained ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and medical retina conditions. She was awarded a prestigious international travelling scholarship, which enabled her to complete a fellowship at Cambridge University Hospital (UK).

During her fellowship, Dr Glasson undertook advanced subspecialty training in complex cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). She worked closely with internationally recognised clinicians and researchers, gaining valuable experience with innovative surgical techniques and emerging technologies in the management of glaucoma and cataract.

Dr Glasson is deeply committed to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care, underpinned by the latest advances in ophthalmic research and surgical innovation. We are proud to welcome her to our team of medical professionals and look forward to the exceptional care she will provide to our patients.

This Falls Awareness Month, we’re raising awareness about falls prevention and supporting those at risk.

After surgery or a procedure, falls can happen more easily due to factors like:

🔹 Medications that cause dizziness
🔹 Inactivity during recovery

It’s important to stay safe both in hospital and at home. Simple fall prevention tips, like staying active and creating a safe environment, can help reduce falls and prevent injuries.

It’s World Glaucoma Week, and we’re helping raise awareness of one of Australia’s leading causes of irreversible blindness. Glaucoma affects over 300,000 Australians, and around 50% don’t know they have it, because it often develops without symptoms.

At Cura Day Hospitals Group, we work closely with glaucoma specialists to provide surgical options that help slow disease progression and prevent further permanent vision loss.
