Today, on ANZAC Day, we pause to remember.

Open Minds has its roots in this history. Founded in 1912 as the Queensland Wattle Day League, our organisation began supporting returned soldiers after the First World War, helping to fund artificial limbs and care for those coming home.

More than 110 years later, our mission is the same: to be here for people in our community who need support.

We hold space today for all those who have served, and for the families and communities who carry that with them.

Lest we forget.

Three Days. Hundreds of conversations. Lots of new ideas to take back to the office.

Our team was at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Conference on the Gold Coast this week, alongside clinicians, researchers, educators, and people with lived experience from across Australia and New Zealand.

The conversations were honest, the sessions were grounding, and the connections made reminded us why this work matters.

Thank you to the Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Association for bringing the sector together.

This Conference has provided new ideas, opportunities to strengthen relationships across the sector and has renewed our sense of purpose.

Mental health touches every community, every culture, every background.

On Harmony Day, we celebrate the diversity of the people we walk alongside and our shared commitment to recovery, connection, and belonging for all Australians.

Happy Harmony Day.

This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week, and it's a timely reminder of something we hold at the core of our work at Open Minds.

Neurodivergent people are not defined by their challenges. They bring unique perspectives, strengths and contributions to every community they're part of. Our role is to provide support that recognises and builds on those strengths, not to fit people into a one-size-fits-all model.
