One month to go until the International Women's Day Fun Run!

On March 8, Queensland X-Ray staff will participate in the International Women's Day Fun Run to support breast cancer research, treatment, and support services. As the presenting partner of this event, we're proud to work alongside the Mater Foundation to make a difference for women in our community.

Among our team is Kylie, an In Charge Medical Administrator at Queensland X-Ray, who will be taking part for the third time. For Kylie, this event is deeply personal. In 2022, she was diagnosed with stage 3 multifocal breast cancer and faced a challenging treatment journey.

“I had the most amazing support from family, Queensland X-Ray, doctors, specialists and my breast care nurses," Kylie said. Last year, Kylie organised a fundraiser at a local Bowls Club and raised over $6,500 to support women with breast cancer.

Supporting the International Women's Day Fun Run not only helps raise funds for vital research and support but is also an opportunity to show those facing breast cancer that they are not alone.

Last week, we welcomed our 2026 Graduate Radiographers and Nuclear Medicine Technologists at a comprehensive two-day orientation designed to prepare them for an exciting year ahead.

During the orientation, graduates heard from Queensland X-Ray leaders and learned about our history, values, and Sonic Healthcare Radiology. The orientation included workshops and training sessions, with hands-on clinical components such as cannulation practice to help build confidence and essential skills.

With more than 50 practices across Queensland, these graduates will gain experience in a variety of locations, learning best practices in patient care and working with market-leading technology.

Queensland X-Ray would like to extend a warm welcome to our 2026 Graduate Radiographers and Nuclear Medicine Technologists.

Queensland X-Ray recently scanned a selection of Roman and Greek artifacts as part of our partnership with Queensland Museum Kurilpa.

Working alongside the museum's Cultures and Histories team, our Bowen Hills practice produced detailed scans of the collection. This included delicate ancient Roman and Greek glassware, intricately crafted pottery, a historic convict's shoe, and even a crocodile skull.

Through this partnership, we are proud to support the Queensland Museum in preserving and studying these culturally and historically significant objects by creating high-quality digital scans.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Early detection offers the best chance of survival, and breast imaging plays an important role.

At Queensland X-Ray, we provide a full range of breast imaging services, including mammograms, contrast-enhanced mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and breast MRIs.

We’re committed to supporting women’s breast health. Throughout October, we'll be donating funds from every mammogram performed. These funds will support the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Mater Chicks in Pink to conduct research and provide support services for those affected by breast cancer.
