We are pleased to announce that Queensland X-Ray's Bayside practice is now providing PET/CT services, following the install of our Biograph Trinion scanner.

Residents in the Redlands and Bayside areas can now conveniently access high-quality PET/CT imaging at their local community practice. The latest technology offers enhanced capabilities for efficient and rapid scanning, resulting in shorter appointment times and increased service capacity.

Since the installation of our first PET/CT scanner in 2009, Queensland X-Ray has continued to expand and invest in this specialised service. Our team of highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Specialists are dedicated to providing high-quality diagnostic imaging and results for referring doctors and their patients.

We look forward to continuing to support the healthcare needs of our community with this expansion of our services.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Early detection offers the best chance of survival, and breast imaging plays an important role.

At Queensland X-Ray, we provide a full range of breast imaging services, including mammograms, contrast-enhanced mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and breast MRIs.

We’re committed to supporting women’s breast health. Throughout October, we'll be donating funds from every mammogram performed. These funds will support the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Mater Chicks in Pink to conduct research and provide support services for those affected by breast cancer.

Queensland X-Ray has had the unique opportunity to scan several artworks by Indigenous artist Dylan Sarra, as part of his First Nations Fellowship with Queensland Museum Kurilpa.

Queensland X-Ray’s partnership with Queensland Museum has historically seen our teams provide medical imaging for biological research, such as scanning fossils and dinosaur bones. This time, we were honoured to apply our technology to the world of art, capturing intricate details of Dylan’s work for documentation and further study.

His latest piece, 'Where the map was drawn, memories remain', displays a striking timber installation of 7 historic gulmari shields. The piece is currently on display on Level 2 of Queensland Museum Kurilpa.

Using CT and X-ray technology, these scans have gone beneath the service, capturing intricate cross-sectional images of the structures.

Queensland X-Ray is proud to support this unique collaboration with Dylan Sarra and Queensland Museum, using medical imaging to capture art.

At Queensland X-Ray, we’re committed to supporting women’s breast health, both through our range of imaging services and our corporate partnerships.

For nearly a decade, Queensland X-Ray has partnered with Blush Cancer Care Inc to fund the Fight Back With Fitness program. Hosted by The Fit Lab Health and Fitness Centre, the program helps women diagnosed with breast cancer improve their fitness, build strength, and gain confidence.

Blush Cancer Care Nurse Gaye said, "Since 2018, a total of 200 ladies have participated in both FBWF and B Active (the program they do while having active treatment), and this number keeps increasing. For many, this program is their lifeline for both fitness and mental well-being."

Today is R U OK? Day, a reminder to connect with those around us and have meaningful conversations about mental health.

At Queensland X-Ray, we are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our people. Over recent months, we have been rolling out Mental Health First Aid training to equip staff with the skills and confidence to recognise and respond to mental health concerns, offer initial support, and encourage professional help when needed.

As part of the Sonic Healthcare network, we’re proud to uphold a workplace culture built on respect, care, and connection. We also provide Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), offering confidential counselling and support to our staff.

On R U OK? Day, and every day, we encourage everyone to check in with those around them, and ask, “Are you OK?”

Queensland X-Ray proudly sponsored the General Practice Conference and Exhibition (GPCE), held at the Royal International Convention Centre (Brisbane Showgrounds).

As one of Australia’s premier events for general practitioners, the two-day conference brought together the largest annual gathering of GPs in the country. It provided a valuable opportunity for healthcare professionals to explore cutting-edge medical innovations, participate in accredited CPD education, and network with peers and industry leaders.

Our Referrer Liaisons — Taylor Burgess, Trish Crow (pictured), Sara McKain and Stephanie Farina — attended the event, engaging with delegates and offering insights into the critical role medical imaging plays in diagnosing and managing a wide range of health conditions.

One of the key topics that generated strong interest was the National Lung Cancer Screening Program which launched on July 1. Queensland X-Ray is proud to be a participating provider, offering bulk-billed low-dose CT scans across our practices throughout Queensland. This initiative aims to support early detection of lung cancer in eligible Australians — improving outcomes through timely diagnosis and treatment.

Supporting events like GPCE aligns with our commitment to advancing medical education and improving healthcare outcomes for communities across Queensland.
