Tomorrow is UN World Autism Awareness Day, and today marks the start of World Autism Understanding Month, as acknowledged by . This is also recognised as World Autism Awareness or Acceptance month internationally, however Aspect Australia encourages a shift beyond awareness to understanding, meaning taking the time to learn, reflect and act in order to create an environment where an Autistic person can feel understood, included and supported. It is that time of the year! Call us now to book in your free influenza vaccine (all Queensland residents over the age of 6 months) to protect yourself and your loved ones this flu season!
2025 reportedly saw the most influenza cases and deaths in more than 25 years, reminding us that although recognised as a common virus, catching the flu can be deadly and it’s important to take measures that protect us against it.
A nasal spray is now available for the first time in Queensland, for children aged 2-5 years old. The spray is a painless alternative, that is just as fast-acting and effective as the injection.
Call our reception team on 07 3371 6005 if you would like to enquire about the nasal spray, the Flucelvax (egg-free) vaccine or to book in for your vaccine appointment.

Prioritize your wellbeing during this year’s Walk to Work Day! Walk to Work and Black Dog Institute are encouraging Australians to consider incorporating more walking in their day, whether this is by parking further away from your destination, getting off the bus a few stops early or even just by taking the stairs instead of the elevator! According to the Black Dog Institute, walking for just an hour a day can significantly decrease risks associated with mental health symptoms and promotes better wellbeing overall. Find out other ways you can participate by going to https://www.walk.com.au/WTW/how-to-participate.asp
More ways that you can incorporate walking in your day, as listed by Walk to Work:
* Walk all or part of your commute
* Get off public transport a few stops early
* Leave the car further away and walk the rest of the way
* Set your alarm earlier and walk before work
* Take a lunchtime walk with colleagues
* Walk to meetings instead of driving or booking taxis
* Schedule walking meetings and “walk and talk” catch-ups
* Get up from your desk every hour and move around
* Use the stairs instead of the lift or escalator
* Working from home? Walk before work, at lunch or between meetings
* Host a group walk or a healthy breakfast to celebrate participation

Are you concerned about your child’s hearing? the WHO focus for this world hearing day is From Communities to Classrooms: Hearing care for all children. According to WHO, school-age children with hearing loss will often go undiagnosed and without access to needed services. This may mean that the child can have difficulty with speech, language and cognitive/social development.
If you have concerns regarding your child’s hearing or your own, visit St Lucia Medical to discuss a free hearing check with Andrew Lee.
