Stepping Stone Clubhouses have received a wonderful opportunity by Pub Choir to be the supported charity at one of their events. This coming Thursday 19th March Pub Choir will be at the Triffid, where we will be spreading the word about our Clubhouses, our model and our members with the audience. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to make donations to help us continue supporting all of our wonderful Clubhouse members. A huge thank you to Pub Choir. We can’t wait to be there with our voices ready to sing.

Today’s Social Rec Wrap Up 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪☘️

Today we went into Brisbane City’s Botanic Gardens to see the Irish Festival. 🇮🇪☘️🪴⛲️

It was great to see everyone around wearing Green and celebrating the festival. ☘️💚🍀

We had a picnic in the park, with wraps we made at the clubhouse as well as tasty food bought at the festival. We also played games, listened to Irish music, went for a walk around the gardens and finished off with an ice cream! 🍦🌯🧋🚶‍♀️

It was a really fun time and we would be keen to go again next year! 😊🌻

On Wednesday 11th March Mel, Jacqui and Sue attended 2026 Queensland LIFE Awards hosted by Su***de Prevention Australia. Stepping Stone Clubhouse Inc were finalists for the work we do helping in the prevention of su***de, specifically our Work Ordered Day program.

Our Work Ordered Day sees our members working side by side with staff and each other for the benefit of the Clubhouse. We mimic a typical work day with our hours being 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday. Just like a workplace we have different Units (or departments) to work in and also partake in meetings to discuss Clubhouse business. By doing this our members have purpose and build their individual capacity.

Our independent Evaluation Report found that our program significantly reduced hospitalisations with 84% of existing members and 51% of new members requiring less hospitalisations in a six month period. https://www.steppingstoneclubhouse.org.au/evaluation-reports

Whilst not taking out the award, it was wonderful to network with other organisations and celebrate the unique people and valuable programs also working within this sector. Our Congratulations to all the winners on the night.

🏖️Today’s social rec turned out to be a good day…the weather didn’t stop us!

We went to Redcliffe and saw it different to usual with dark clouds and choppy water. But we enjoyed a lovely lunch of fish and chips, went for a walk along the boardwalk (total 6kms), went to Bee Gees Way and checked out the inflatable water park for a laugh on our way home.

Matthew - lunch was good and enjoyed Bee Gees Way. Enjoyed laughing at the people on the inflatable obstacle course 😂

Helen - because it was cloudy it was a different perspective, but it was still a lovely day. The rain held off so we could enjoy the walks 😊. It was great being with good people.

Happy Thursday everyone, the team here at Stepping Stone North hope you've had a fantastic week so far!

James & Emma just had the amazing opportunity to meet with some other Brisbane Community based services at Central Inter-agency meeting and (✨ hopefully ✨) start some long lasting partnerships with each other. 🌻🤝

As a member based clubhouse, we love any chance to meet with and communicate with other providers and services that can best help support our current, and or, future members.

Today we ventured out into the heart of the city at Brisbane Square Library, to meet with many different all-encompassing services in various different sectors, including, but not limited to, aged care, disability & employment, legal aid, and community counselling services.

A massive shout out to the lovely folks from ADA Australia UnitingCare Rosies - Friends On The Street Caxton Legal Services Basic Rights Queensland Communify Queensland Bardon NorthWest neighbourhood centre, New Farm Neighbourhood Centre , 3rd Space and Brisbane City Council and their Safe Community team. Together we can help promote a healthy, active lifestyle, where mental health challenges are no longer a barrier of entry, and help support our incredible communities thrive, even in the worst of times. Thank you to all of our members, and to todays host, Brisbane City Council, for allowing us to engage with so many valued services in the community.

We look forward to many more exciting opportunities and building new relationships, and we strongly encourage you all to please reach out to any of the services listed if you're interested in learning anything more.

Thank you to the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust for supporting Stepping Stone North with a grant to enable our staff and members to complete ASIST training. This training will strengthen our community’s ability to recognise and respond to su***de risk, helping us stay connected and supportive of one another.

At the celebration event, Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner acknowledged Mosaic Property Group for funding the Christmas grants now available to organisations delivering events over Christmas. This initiative grew from a conversation about why celebrating Christmas Day is so important for our Stepping Stone community.

It was wonderful to meet Kathryn from Mosaic Property Group and share how meaningful Christmas Day is for our Clubhouses. We also loved catching up with Cr Vicki Howard and sharing updates on everything we’ve been working on.

☀️What perfect weather for a trip up to the Sunny Coast to one of Australia’s most popular beaches, Mooloolaba. 🏖️

Team Stepping Stone North drove up in two cars and arrived at a lovely spot just walking distance from the surf beach. When we arrived there around lunch time, we fired up the BBQ and cooked sausages and meat patties. 🍔🌭

After our feast, we walked 4km along the beach towards the surf club where the life savers were. Lots of us went for a swim, while others just relaxed and chilled by the water. To top it all off, we finished the day with delicious ice cream.

It was an enjoyable day with lovely weather. Had a coffee while looking out on fishing trawlers quite a nice view. I had a lovely lunch then on to the beach for those who wanted to swim. We walked back to the car to buy the elusive ice cream, then a Kenilworth 🍩. It was a very nice day

Over a delicious fresh nourish lunch we had an amazing opportunity to meet with Abby & Cat from Metro North Health at the S*xual Health and HIV Service where we learnt some important information about STI's, preventative sexual health, contraception & HIV management.

This is an incredibly important aspect of staying safe & healthy, and the incredible people over at S*xual Health and HIV Service offer these services FREE OF CHARGE. No Medicare card, Health Care card or concession of any kind is required to access these services.

Meeting with services like this is an incredible opportunity for both the service, and ourselves here at the clubhouse, to get to know one another and start transformative and long-lasting relationships. Through continued conversations, tours and lunches like this, we are able to provide our members with even more support in many aspects of their life.

As a Clubhouse dedicated to healthy active lifestyle and supporting individuals with mental health struggles, this was an invaluable meeting, and we look forward to future opportunities just like this.
