Tribute to Lenny Hoeksema at Urban Warfare Boxing bout last night read by Andrew Ma and written by Hammer ✝️
Today we honour the life of Lenny Hoeksema a man who meant so much to so many.
Losing a very close friend is one of the hardest things we go through in life. A true friend is someone who walks beside you through the good times and the hard times, someone who shares your laughter, stands in your corner when life gets tough, and becomes part of your story in a way that can never be replaced.
To the boxing world, Lenny was highly regarded — a man respected for his passion, his dedication, and the way he carried himself in the sport.
Boxing is a sport built on discipline, heart, and courage, and Lenny had all three in abundance. He understood the spirit of the fight, not just inside the ring, but in life itself.
But to those of us who were lucky enough to know him personally, Lenny was much more than a name in boxing.
He was a loyal friend, someone with a big heart, someone who could make you laugh, someone who stood by the people he cared about. He had a presence that people gravitated toward and a spirit that left a lasting impression.
Friendships like the one I shared with Lenny are rare. The kind built on trust, loyalty, and countless memories that will stay with me forever. His absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but the memories and the lessons he gave us will always remain.
In boxing, when the bell rings at the end of a fight, it doesn’t erase what happened in the ring — the courage, the heart, the legacy.
And Lenny’s legacy is something that will never fade.
Lenny created all fighting styles just so Ben and myself could keep running urban warfare.
And gave all these up and coming amateur boxes a chance to fight and showcase they’re talent Lenny lives on in the boxing community that respected him, in the friends who loved him, and in every life he touched.
Lenny may no longer be with us in person, but his spirit, his strength, and the impact he made will stay with us always.
Rest easy, my friend. Your fight is over, but your legacy will never be forgotten. 🥊
