and I (Dr Jackie) attended an informative and tasty CPD evening last night hosted by and learning about new and evidence based testing for the microbiome and techniques for healthy weight loss.
We forgot to get a team photo 🤦🏼‍♀️ no doubt distracted by the interesting talks, great good and beautiful view of the full moon over the Storey Bridge! 🌕🫶🏻

It's day 3 of Jean Hailes for Women's Health week and the theme is - Pain to Power

1. Always advocate for yourself - if something doesn’t feel right trust your instincts, get a second or third opinion if needed. Ensure your age-appropriate health checks with your GP are up to date which can help flag issues before they become more serious.

2. There is no one-size-fits-all all approach to pain and everybody’s pain is different. Often trialling a mix of therapies helps, which may include medications, surgery, lifestyle changes, physiotherapy, acupuncture, relaxation/mindfulness and/or natural supplements.

3 .Don’t underestimate the importance of a positive mindset when dealing with any disease. Your mind and body are inextricably linked and it helps to focus on positive steps toward healing (although it’s fine to have bad moments/days/weeks - we’re only human!)

4. Set realistic goals - aim for improvements in pain and function, but don’t think about it as all or nothing and needing a 100% cure. It's about getting you feeling as good as you can and appreciating the little wins which all make up the big picture.

Hello 👋🏻 it’s a busy week over here at Santé and it’s also Women’s Health Week.

Today’s theme with is “Take The Lead” - it relates to arming yourself with knowledge and tools to have confident and informed conversations with your doctor.

Here are some suggestions to make that happen!

1. Track your symptoms. Be they cycle related or just something that has been happening for awhile - note them down with a timeline so you and your doc can help see any patterns that might give clues as to what’s going on.

2. Trusted sources: it’s so hard to know who and what to trust these days with so many influencers, and even doctors from all over the world with differing opinions and evidence. Have a chat to your GP if there’s something you’re considering, and find a likeminded GP who might be able to help give perspective or point you in the right direction for your specific queries.

3. Book enough time. Our clinic has longer consults as fairly standard as we don’t like to rush anyone. There’s enough of that in day to day life! Being able to clearly communicate, discuss and get feedback on symptoms, treatment and any concerns is important for ensuring holistic care.

4. Does not directly relate to the theme but to my picture! As a busy Mum, GP I’m learning if I don’t take the lead and book/do things I need like exercise or prep food that works for me then they won’t happen by accident. Starting with 15-20 minute home based workouts has been great to get fitness back on the agenda amongst everything else 💥 💪🏻 💃🏻
