🚽 Is your child ready for toileting?

Toilet training can feel like a big milestone - but knowing when to start can make all the difference. Every child develops at their own pace, so looking for a few key signs can help guide the timing.

Your child might be ready for toileting if they:
✅ Stay dry for longer periods (around 2 hours)
✅ Tell you when they have done a wee or poo
✅ Show interest in the toilet or copying others

Starting when your child shows these signs can make the process smoother and less stressful for everyone.

If you’re feeling unsure or things aren’t progressing as expected, an Occupational Therapist can help support your child’s independence and build confidence with toileting.

💬 Save this for later or share with another parent going through toilet training.

Hiya Health Explains: Can I exercise with a heart condition?

It’s a common myth that if you have a heart condition, you should avoid exercise altogether.

In reality, for many people, the right type of exercise can be an important part of managing heart health. Research shows that appropriately prescribed exercise can help improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, energy levels and overall quality of life.

The key is making sure your exercise program is tailored to your condition, current fitness level, and medical advice.

So no, having a heart condition doesn’t automatically mean you need to stop exercising - it means exercising safely and with the right guidance.

If you’ve been unsure about what exercise is safe for you, our exercise physiology team can help design a program that supports your heart health and confidence with movement.

Exercise looks different for every woman. For some, it’s about strength. For others, it’s confidence, clarity, or simply a moment for themselves.

This International Women’s Day, we asked the women in our community one simple question: Why is exercise important to you?

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, reminds us that when we support and uplift women, we all benefit. And sometimes that support starts with something simple: creating space for women to move, build strength, and prioritise their health.

Their answers are a reminder that movement isn’t just about fitness - it’s about feeling strong, capable, and supported in everyday life.

At Hiya Health, we're proud to provide environments to support all women with their health goals.
Here’s to women supporting women, and moving in ways that help us feel our best. :purple_heart:

🎤 Meet Brenda.

Brenda works regularly with Senior Exercise Physiologist, Alyssa, out of our Labrador clinic to support her bone health and long-term fitness, focusing on age-related conditions like osteoporosis.

We recently mic’d her up for a session, and it was full of strength, laughs, and a few confessions 😄 She hates crab walks, loves Pilates, and is a big Emily in Paris fan. As she says, “If I can get through crab walks, I can get through anything” - and honestly, we couldn’t agree more.

Sessions like these show that building confidence, independence, and resilience can also be fun and full of personality 💙
