Aparigraha: The Art of Letting Go
As the year edges toward its close, we’re invited to soften our grip, on expectations, outcomes, and the pressure to have it all figured out.
In yoga philosophy, Aparigraha means “non-grasping.” It’s the practice of loosening our attachment to control and trusting the natural flow of life. When we cling too tightly, to ideas, possessions, thoughts or versions of ourselves, we close the very space where new life and possibility can breathe.
On the mat, we embody this with every exhale, every time we exit a pose, every moment we allow rest. Off the mat, it might look like finding grace when things unfold differently than we imagined, creating space before a new year begins, or pausing to appreciate what already is.
As the year closes, where could you ease the pressure? Where might you let things be unfinished, and rest in enough?
