The 3 main types of Skin Cancer are:
Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) – About 2 out of 3 skin cancers
Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) – About 1 in 3 skin cancers
Melanoma – About 1 in 100 skin cancers

BCC and SCC are also known as non-melanoma skin cancer or keratinocyte cancer. They are the most common skin cancer and make up about 99% of skin cancers. Over 1 million treatments are given each year in Australia for non-melanoma skin cancers.

Melanoma starts in the melanocytes and makes up 1–2% of all skin cancers. It's a serious type of skin cancer because it's likely to spread to other parts of the body, especially if not found and treated early. Australia and New Zealand have the highest rates of melanoma in the world.

With sun protection and early detection, skin cancer is a preventable condition.

Nearly all skin cancers are directly related to your exposure to the sun, so when you protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays you reduce your risk. It’s never too late to start protecting!

In NSW, the UV is high enough to damage your skin for over 10 months of the year. Regardless of the time of day or time of the year or the weather, whenever the UV index is 3 or above, make sure you're sun protected.

Nicotinamide is a water soluble and active form of vitamin B. It improves cellular processes like repair of DNA after sun exposure. It may reduce the negative effects of UV on the immune system of the skin.

Studies show it reduces the rates of new non-Melanoma skin cancers (BCC and SCC) and Seborrheic Keratosis (SK) in high risk patients.
