How many different plant foods have you eaten this week? 🌱

Not just vegetables.. I mean everything that comes from plants:
Fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices 🫛🥦🍓🌾🥜🌿

Research shows that people who eat 30 or more different plant foods per week tend to have a more diverse gut microbiome, meaning a wider variety of beneficial bacteria living in their gut.🦠

Why does this matter?

Because your gut bacteria don’t just affect digestion.
They influence your:
• Immune system
• Inflammation levels
• Nervous system
• Energy production
• Hormones
• Even pain sensitivity

When diversity is low, we often see more gut symptoms, more inflammation and more chronic health issues.

This is especially important if you're living with:
✅ Digestive conditions
✅ Autoimmunity
✅ Chronic pain (including fibromyalgia)
✅ Fatigue syndromes like ME/CFS & Long COVID

More variety = more nourishment for your gut bacteria = better whole-body support.

✨ Your challenge:
Count how many different plant foods you've eaten in the past 7 days and drop your number below!

You might be surprised.

Experiencing trauma can change the way your nervous system responds to future everyday stress and can cause an abnormal nervous system response which can lead to symptoms. 🧠

Rewiring your nervous system response through 🍏diet & lifestyle techniques, using key nutrients & 🌿herbal medicine and engaging in other therapies that support emotional wellness and nervous system regulation are all beneficial ways to support recovery.

Trauma and prolonged stress can leave the nervous system stuck in survival mode, long after the original threat has passed.

Over time, this dysregulation can influence immune function, inflammation, pain sensitivity and energy production… all key players in chronic illness.

By recognising these patterns, we can gently work toward restoring balance 🔄and building a more resilient stress response.

Does this feel familiar in your health journey?

If you’re living with chronic illness and suspect your nervous system is stuck in survival mode, this is something we can explore together.

Dealing with invisible symptoms can be so isolating.

I understand the courage it takes to face each day with symptoms that others can't always see. The pain, fatigue, brain fog and challenges you endure are real, even if they are invisible to the world.

Here's a few reminders for the warriors facing invisible battles:

🌼 Your pain is valid, your struggles are real, and your experiences matter.
🌼 Be kind to yourself. Listen to your body's needs, rest when necessary, and celebrate your small victories.
🌼 Lean on your support system! Whether it's friends, family, or fellow warriors, talking about your struggles can alleviate the emotional burden and create a sense of belonging.

Remember, you are not alone. Your courage in the face of unseen challenges is a testament to your extraordinary spirit. Let's continue supporting one another, raising awareness, and fostering understanding about these invisible symptoms we navigate daily.

Send this post to a fellow warrior to remind them just how strong they are 💗

GUT HEALTH RED FLAGS 🚩

Dysbiosis = an imbalance in your gut bacteria (your microbiome). 🦠

And research keeps showing just how much those “friendly bugs” influence your whole body.

When your normal bacteria are out of balance in your digestive tract, it can show up in ways you might not expect.

Gut imbalances are linked to symptoms affecting your digestion, immune system, energy, mood and inflammation.

Your gut doesn’t just affect your stomach.
It affects your whole system.

Many people with Long COVID experience ongoing digestive symptoms often long after the initial infection has passed.

So what’s the link? 🔗

A large UK study found an increased risk of digestive disorders and hepatobiliary (liver and gallbladder) conditions following COVID-19 infection. 🦠

Reflux (GORD), IBS and constipation were among the most common and most persistent symptoms.
Repeated COVID infections appear to increase this risk even further.

So how does COVID affect the gut?

👉 Research suggests the virus can disrupt the balance of the gut microbiome (your friendly bacteria that support human health).
👉 The digestive tract contains a high number of ACE2 receptors, which the virus can bind to.
👉 In some people, viral particles may persist in the gut even after the acute illness has resolved.

For many, this helps explain why digestive symptoms can appear out of the blue.. or worsen, after COVID.

Let’s talk energy🔋…Fatigue with chronic illness isn’t something you can “push through”.

It’s complex, unrelenting, and deserves thoughtful support.

Optimising energy is about nourishment, pacing, nervous system support and personalised care in a way your body can actually tolerate.

Healing isn’t linear. And you’re not too complex to help 🙂

If this resonates and you’re curious about what personalised support could look like for you, you’re welcome to book a free introductory call via the link in my bio 🌿

I'm a big believer in listening to your body.👂

It was great to get back in the pool this last month after a bit of a break. 🏊‍♀️ They weren't the fastest or longest swims I've ever done, but I did something that felt right for my body.👍

Some days I can swim laps for 30 mins without much of a break 💪 and other days it's all I can do to walk slowly in the water. 🐌

As someone who's always struggled with low stamina and fatigue I've had to become well acquainted with pacing myself.

If you have a chronic illness listening to your body becomes all the more important.❣️ This is harder than it sounds and can be particularly difficult for those who've come from a gym/fitness background of thinking, where you're encouraged to "push yourself" and "stretch beyond your limits".🤔

3️⃣ important lessons I'm learning are...
👉 Focus on what you can do, not on what you can't.
👉 Celebrate what you do achieve (no matter how small).
👉 And don't compare yourself to others

I would love to hear your thoughts on this. 💭

As we move into the new year, a lot of people start thinking about what healthy changes they want to make, especially when it comes to food. 🍏

And while reflection and intention can be helpful, we also know that traditional New Year’s resolutions have an incredibly high failure rate ☹️… particularly for people living with chronic or invisible illness.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, confused, or burnt out by nutrition advice, this post is for you.

Here are a few important things to consider if you want changes that are supportive, realistic, and sustainable, not another cycle of restriction and guilt.❌

I’m so grateful to be back in clinic for another year of supporting your health and wellbeing. 🙏🏼

As a naturopath and clinical nutritionist, my focus has always been on intentional, steady, and sustainable change... especially for those living with complex or ongoing health challenges.

Many of the people I work with have been unwell for years. They’ve seen multiple practitioners, had “normal” test results, tried different approaches, and still don’t feel like themselves. They’re often told there’s not much more that can be done OR left to figure it out alone.

I believe symptoms hold information.🧬 And when we take the time to listen, look beneath the surface, and work with your body (not against it), meaningful progress is possible - even when health feels complex.

If you’re feeling ready for a more holistic, supportive approach - one that offers clarity, structure, and accountability without overwhelm... I’d love to support you in 2026.

✨ Ways we can work together:
• In-person consultations (Wynn Vale, SA)
• Online consultations (Australia-wide)

✨ My services include:
• Holistic health assessments
• Individualised nutrition support
• Herbal medicine guidance
• Lifestyle support that fits your capacity
• Private functional testing options
• Evidence-informed, professional supplement prescriptions

If this feels like the right next step, you can book via the link in my bio.

And if you’d prefer to talk things through first, I offer a free, no-obligation introductory call.📞 Link in bio

You don’t have to do this alone 🤍
I’m here to help you make sense of your health, one steady step at a time.

Weeknight Prawn & Tofu Fried Rice (No Rules Recipe)

I shared this on my stories the other night (apologies for the very average photography 😅) and had a few messages asking for the recipe, so here it is.

This is one of my go-to dinners on hectic weeknights when we’re racing between kids trainings. No exact measurements, just use whatever veggies you’ve got. We love capsicum, carrot, broccoli, peas, corn, cabbage and green beans.

Using pre-cooked (and cooled) rice builds resistant starch, a prebiotic fibre that’s great for gut health. I also keep the rice a little lower and really pack in the veg and protein to make it more blood sugar friendly.

Rough Ingredients (use as a guide)
👉120g (roughly) uncooked rice, cooked & cooled
👉2 generous cups finely diced veg
👉2 garlic cloves
👉A handful of prawns
👉1 x 350g block firm tofu (pressed, cubed, tossed in cornflour, salt & pepper)
👉4 eggs (optional)
👉Soy sauce or tamari
👉1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)

Quick Method👇
Cook eggs into omelettes (optional), slice and set aside.
Cook tofu until golden - pan-fry or oven bake.
Stir-fry veg + garlic, then add prawns until just cooked.
Add rice, tofu and egg.
Toss together with soy/tamari and oyster sauce.

That’s it.

Save this for busy nights, and tell me.. what veggies are you using up in your fridge this week? 🥕🥦🍤
