Healthcare professionals have come together to help shape a new guideline for better access to safe, quality care for allergic conditions. These conversations are a critical step to ensuring the recommendations are practical, achievable and reflect what is needed across different settings. The National Allergy Council is a partnership between the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) and Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia, the peak medical and patient support organisations for allergy in Australia. We are grateful to receive funding from the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing which enables us to undertake important work to support the 8.2 million Australians living with allergic disease.

✅ Enrol at no cost in the Professional Certificate in Allergy Nursing (Adelaide University)
✅ Gain the skills to implement an allergy education service in your clinic
✅ Be included in a Community of Practice to provide ongoing support

The Australian Government’s commitment of a further $14.6 million to support Australians living with allergic disease is welcome news 🎉

The investment in the National Allergy Council (a partnership between Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy and Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia) and the National Allergy Centre of Excellence (hosted at Murdoch Children's Research Institute - MCRI (MCRI)) is until June 2028.

“Today, we welcome the Government’s support of our life-changing allergy programs. Now we can continue the momentum of providing coordinated care and practical, evidence-based support to millions of Australians beyond specialist clinics,” said NAC CEO Dr Sandra Vale.

"This commitment means our national collaboration can keep life changing research and public health programs going, so that Australians impacted by this widespread chronic condition get the evidence-based care they need," said NACE Director Prof Kirsten Perrett.

The National Allergy Council would like to thank the more than 60 industry, government, regulatory, health organisations and consumer representatives who attended our Managing food allergies in food service round table, facilitated by Tawnya Bahr. It was so important to bring everyone together to hear the different perspectives and challenges. We look forward to continuing to work with all key interest holders to progress the development of the best practice guidelines.

Over the weekend the National Allergy Council ran the Allergy 250K school-aged kids camp in Adelaide. It was a fantastic weekend of fun activities, learning and connecting! We brought together 36 school-aged kids and 12 peer mentors with severe allergies. We managed 43 different food allergies and other special dietaries ✨
