The silly season is here—cue the endless food, family catch-ups, and the annual debate over who ate the last piece of pavlova. If you’re feeling more “frazzled” than festive, you’re definitely not alone. Nearly 1 in 3 Aussies feel lonely at Christmas (Australian Red Cross, 2022), so a little self-care goes a long way.
This time of year can be tough on both body and mind. Remember to move in ways that feel good, enjoy your favourite foods without guilt, and take time to rest or say “no” if you need to. Checking in on your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical wellbeing.

A few highlights from our end of year party! Merry Christmas from all of us at Brunswick Chiro 🎅🏼 If you need us over the New Year period, we’ll be OPEN (with reduced hours and a skeleton crew) because your health doesn’t take a holiday.

OPEN up until and including Christmas Eve, December 29 & 30, then back to normal hours from January 2nd 2026. See you then!

Stay safe and well over the silly season, and thanks for all your support this year ❤️

Ever heard of Bruegger’s posture? Our chiro, Dr Dave, shows us an exercise you can try at the end of a long day hunched over your desk. It may help your body reset and support better posture—no fancy equipment needed!

How to do Bruegger’s posture:
    •    Stand tall with your feet shoulder-width apart
    •    Bend your elbows and turn your palms up so you look like a forklift 😉
    •    Pull your elbows backwards and shoulder blades together
    •    Then externally rotate your shoulders so your thumbs point as far backwards as possible
    •    Squeeze and hold that position as long as you can!
You’ll feel a stretch across your chest and front, plus your back muscles really working. Give it a go—your spine will thank you!

Sciatica doesn’t have to stop you in your tracks 💙
That shooting pain down your leg? It’s your sciatic nerve telling you something’s not quite right — whether it’s disc compression, tight muscles, or postural strain.
Osteopathy takes a whole-body approach. We don’t just look at where it hurts — we assess your pelvis, hips, and spine to understand why it’s happening.
Using gentle, hands-on techniques like soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, and muscle energy techniques, osteopaths aim to reduce nerve pressure, improve mobility, and support your body’s natural recovery.
Understanding how daily habits influence your pain can make a real difference too — from posture adjustments to gentle movement strategies.
If you’re dealing with persistent sciatica, know that support is available.

Stretching your hip flexors but not feeling it? You might be doing it wrong. 🤔
Most people lean over their knee and end up stretching their quads instead—completely missing the hip flexor.
The fix? Stride forward with your front foot. Stay tall. Tuck your tailbone. Engage your core. Then lean forward and feel it in the front of the hip.
You don’t need big movement. You need precision.
Try it and let us know how it feels. 💪

That ni**le in your back? It’s not random. 🚨
Your body’s been sending signals for weeks—tight muscles, restricted joints, an overprotective nervous system. That “sudden” pain when you picked up your keys? Just the final straw.
Here’s what most people don’t realise: back problems are cumulative. The Weekend Warrior pattern (40+ hours sitting, then intense Saturday activity) is one of the biggest culprits we see in Brunswick.
So when should you actually worry? Swipe to learn the red flags, 5 evidence-based self-care habits, and how to choose between chiro, osteo, myo, or massage.
Your body’s pretty clever at sending signals—let’s make sure you’re listening to the right ones. 💙

Our Story

Brunswick Chiropractic consists of a team of like-minded health professionals solely focused on the improvement of their patients' health and wellbeing.

The practice itself has been helping and treating the local community for over 30 years. The current owners, Drs David and Alicia Cannon, are a husband and wife team who strive for excellence in their respective professions, chiropractic and osteopathy. They have a strong patient-centred ethos and have gathered around them a collection of practitioners that share the view that the health and well-being of the patient is paramount. David and Alicia are maintaining and improving upon the quality care that was provided by the previous principal chiropractors, Drs Paul Carless and Alan Freedman.

Here at Brunswick Chiropractic, we want you to be the best you can be, to be able to do what you want to do when you want to do it, and enjoy a full and pain free life. To help you achieve your health goals, we offer a variety of hands-on therapies including chiropractic, osteopathy and myotherapy, and we can cater our treatments to your individual needs. Please visit www.brunswickchiro.com.au to see which treatment might be right for you.
