Ramadan Mubarak, from Elysium Psychology

To our Muslim community, we see you.
For the next 30 days, many of you will fast from before dawn until sunset. No food. No drink. A meaningful and intentional pause from the usual rhythm of the day.
Ramadan is a month of devotion, reflection, generosity, and discipline; this commitment deserves recognition. It can also bring noticeable changes to routine, sleep, energy, and mood, so it is natural if you feel different physically or emotionally during this time.
🌙 Supporting your wellbeing may mean adjusting expectations, protecting your sleep, and creating small daily anchors to stay grounded.
🌙 Being intentional about nourishment and hydration during non-fasting hours can help maintain focus and balance.
🌙 You might also choose one gentle area of personal growth, such as practising patience, gratitude, or self-compassion.
🌙 Staying connected with others remains important, as community and shared moments offer meaningful support.

Ramadan is not only about abstaining, but about refining and growing with intention.
We wish you clarity, strength, and renewal in this sacred month.
Ramadan Mubarak,

At Elysium Psychology, we can provide support to parents who feel overwhelmed or unsure about how to best understand their neurodivergent child. When we focus on the right foundations, we create environments where neurodivergent children can truly thrive.
Here are five key areas that matter most:
✨ Health & Safety: Children need to feel safe at home and school, safe to be themselves, and safe with trusted people.
✨ Deep Interests & Joy: Intense interests and hyperfocus are strengths. Nurture them, validate them, and let them shine.
✨ Knowing their BRAIN: Support children in understanding their neurotype, developing regulation strategies, and honoring sensory differences.
✨ Support & Relationships: Surround them with teachers, professionals, and peers who celebrate their authentic self.
✨ Positive Self Identity: Speak positively about neurodiversity and help children build the language and confidence to advocate for themselves.

When we shift from “fixing” to understanding, we empower growth, wellbeing, and confidence 🌱

The way we speak to our children matters.

Imperative language demands a response (e.g. “Put your shoes on”).
It puts us in control and leaves little room for independent thinking, collaboration, or connection — all essential for developing executive function skills.

Many children (including those with ADHD) respond better to declarative language, which shares observations instead of demanding answers (e.g. “I notice your shoes are still by the door.”)
Declarative language reduces pressure, invites thinking, and often increases communication.
