This week is National Diabetes Week and as Diabetes is a special interest area of mine, I wanted to share this post with you.

Did you know that research conducted by the Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes has found that four out of five people living with diabetes have experienced stigma at some point? Research has also shown that diabetes-related foot problems can be associated with lower quality of life, restrictions in physical activity and distress in those living with diabetes and their caregivers.

For National Diabetes Week 2022, we’re spreading awareness about the impact of diabetes-related foot disease, and easy ways to understand and support a loved one at-risk of developing or living with diabetes-related foot disease. How healthy are your feet? When was the last time you had someone check the health of your feet?
Even though we dont think twice about having a medical "check up" for our cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, kidney function and liver function we often miss checking the health of our feet.
Many foot related conditions can be prevented by early diagnosis and treatment, so make sure having a foot "check up" becomes part of your annual health maintenance program.
These check up take approx 30 minutes and includes checking the blood flow to your feet, your muscle strength, your skin, how well you can feel pressure on the soles of your feet and your footwear.
