Why do some chiropractors use a Hylo chiropractic table?

Many patients ask us about this chiropractic table and why we use it.

This is a Hylo chiropractic table, and it’s especially beneficial for patients with acute back pain, as well as for individuals with injuries or elderly patients who may have difficulty getting on and off the table.

The table tilts from a vertical to a horizontal position, allowing patients to walk on and off easily. This reduces strain and discomfort, particularly for those who struggle to get onto traditional flat tables.

The thoracic section of the table can swing and drop, allowing for precise adjustments while minimizing pressure on the front of the rib cage. This mechanism also helps reduce the risk of rib fractures during thoracic spine adjustments.

When the patient is in the prone position, the combination of the thoracic and lumbar swing and drop mechanisms helps relax the paraspinal muscles, opening the anterior disc space in the thoracic and/or lumbar regions. This enables chiropractors to deliver controlled, specific spinal corrections, enhancing the effectiveness of the adjustment while minimizing discomfort.

Pregnant patients also find it easier to lie on this table, as the stomach area can swing and drop, providing additional comfort and support.

It’s beneficial for chiropractors as well. The table helps reduce physical strain by allowing the patient to be positioned with minimal lifting or repositioning. This improves both safety and ergonomics for the practitioner.

And no, it’s definitely not a torture machine, despite what some new patients might think or say. It’s also not just a “show-off” table.
Using the right techniques for each individual, combined with the right tools, is essential for achieving the best outcomes in chiropractic care.
