Tendon pathologies
Tendons are an important part of the contractile soft tissue complex and attach muscle to bone. Tendons work primarily as ‘bracers’ and will usually get overloaded if deconditioned and exposed to repetitive loads e.g. running, jumping, acceleration and deceleration.
Common types of Tendinopathies
• Achilles Tendinitis
• Tennis Elbow
• Golfer’s Elbow
• Patella Tendinitis
• Rotator Cuff Tendinosis
• Gluteal Tendinopathy
Tendons once flared, can typically take 3 months to recover and require a specific strength loading program which can be prescribed by your physiotherapist.
Strengthening tendons increased collagen tissue production which can assist in the recovery of tendons, while also increasing the tendons threshold for load.
