Our Harvey Chapel is getting a little spruce up!
The youngest member of the fifth generation has been lending a helpful little hand with the new furniture arrangements, and we must say, he’s proving quite useful. We’re also loving the beautiful roses blooming at this time of year to make make the chapel surroundings even more special. 💐

We are incredibly proud of Jessie Piper-Lilley, who recently attended the Australian Institute of Embalmers Conference in Queenstown, New Zealand, to officially graduate as a fully-qualified embalmer.
This achievement represents years of hard work, study, compassion and dedication under the guidance of our wonderful mortuary manager Blaine.
Reflecting on her journey, Jessie shared that becoming a certified embalmer was a lifelong goal. “It’s a privilege to apply my skills in a way that brings comfort to families during the most difficult moments of their lives. It’s truly an honour to be entrusted with a family’s precious loved one and a responsibility I don’t take lightly.”

Congratulations, Jessie. Your professionalism and care embody the very heart of what we do at William Barrett & Sons!

After a funeral, most people spend hours online trying to figure out what to do next.

Centrelink. Superannuation. Bank accounts. What to consider when accessing professionals and services. What to do with your person's belongings. The list goes on and on.

It’s exhausting—and often, you don’t even know what you’re supposed to be looking for.

That’s why I created After the Funeral – The Unspoken Next Steps.

It’s a guide that saves you hours of research and second-guessing, so you can focus on what matters: grieving, healing, and being present.

I’ll be launching it on 6 November in Bunbury at a free community event with Adrian Barrett and Sharon Lomax from William Barrett & Sons.

They’ll also share how funeral pre-planning can ease future stress and offer clarity when it’s needed most.

A fantastic resource.

Hats off to teachers.

On World Teachers’ Day, we honour the huge contribution teachers make every single day. You do so much more than deliver lessons. You notice when something is not right. You create safe spaces. You give children a sense of belonging and routine when life feels uncertain.

For grieving students, school can be a place of respite. It can be the steady rhythm in the middle of chaos at home. It can be a safe space where they are seen, included and cared for.

Grief can affect concentration, memory, behaviour and attendance. Teachers are often the first to notice these changes. The patience and compassion you show helps children feel less alone in their grief.

Our free information sheet, Supporting a Bereaved Student, offers practical classroom strategies and guidance for teachers who want to understand how grief might show up in their students and how to respond with care.

Lionheart grief coaches can also collaborate with schools to support staff and students directly.

Hats off to teachers. Thank you for walking alongside grieving children and giving them the stability and compassion they need.

Be sure to share this resource with your school community to help ensure no child grieves alone.
