16 Days in WA is fast approaching — running from 25 November to 10 December — and it’s a powerful reminder that violence against women isn’t just a social issue; it’s a women’s health issue.

We see the impacts every week at SWWHIC through the stories women share, the support they seek, and the care they deserve.

At our Centre, our goal is simple: make sure every woman feels heard, supported, and never alone.

This year, we’re encouraging our community to take small, meaningful steps that help create safer spaces for women — sharing accurate information, supporting local services, checking in on friends, and promoting respect in everyday moments.

Today we recognise World Diabetes Day, shining a light on diabetes — a chronic condition that affects women at every stage of life.

For many women, diabetes can influence menstrual health, pregnancy, and menopause, as well as everyday wellbeing. It’s a lifelong condition that requires ongoing care — but with the right support and knowledge, women can live full and healthy lives.

💙 This World Diabetes Day, take a moment to check in with yourself:
✅ Keep up with regular health checks
✅ Eat well and stay active in ways that feel right for you
✅ Prioritise your mental and emotional wellbeing
✅ Reach out for support when you need it — you are not alone

Taking care of your health is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself and those you love. 💪💙

A huge congratulations to Michelle Woosnam and the amazing Grounded Women’s Wellbeing Group on their work-in-progress community mural at Milligan! 💕

This vibrant project, guided by Michelle and artist Jodie Riley, is a beautiful reflection of creativity, connection, and women supporting women. We are so proud to see the group recognised with an Alike “Dream It Forward” Award last week — such well-deserved acknowledgment of their vision and teamwork! 🌟

Funding support has come through Alike, Southern Ports, and Aqwest, with thanks to everyone who has contributed to making this initiative possible. Your support helps local women express themselves, build confidence, and strengthen community wellbeing.

The mural is still in progress — and we can’t wait to see the finished masterpiece! Keep an eye out for updates as this inspiring project continues to take shape. 🎨💫

Starting November 4, our center will be getting a little refresh — a gentle update to help create an even more welcoming and comfortable space for our community.

While these works are underway, all of our regular services will continue as usual until December 14, when we’ll close (a little earlier than usual) for the festive season and for some larger refurbishment work.

With Love

Mental Health Week may be over, but caring for our mental health is something we do every day. 💚

This year’s theme — Empowering Communities, Thriving Workforces — reminded us how powerful community connection can be. From movie screenings and art exhibitions to yoga, coffee, and conversation, our community came together to celebrate wellbeing in action.

Thanks to funding from the Yoga for Good Foundation & Lotterywest, our Empower Her: Yoga & Coffee morning was just the beginning — we’re continuing the journey with a 10-week free yoga workshop series to support women’s mental health and connection. 🌿

Self-care isn’t always easy.
Sometimes, it means facing hard things and choosing support over silence.

🌸 Prioritising your mental health is powerful.
That might look like:

✔ Talking to a counsellor
✔ Taking medication
✔ Asking for help
✔ Saying no
✔ Letting go of what drains you

You don’t have to do it alone. SWWHIC offers free and confidential counselling in a safe, supportive space 💚 https://swwhic.com.au/strong-doesnt-mean-silent/

📣 Share this post with a woman who deserves to feel supported.
