Have you spent time in nature today? π²π³πΏππΌπ·
Being outside is an excellent way to reset our body, connect with ourselves and the world around us, ground and relax.
Here are some suggestions for "outside time" no matter what the weather:
- Stand in the rain, enjoy the cold drops on your face, arms, and back; smell the fresh grass and listen for those gorgeous little green frogs croaking away in celebration!
- Find a shaded tree to sit under and listen to the leaves moving above you. Are they green and soft moving against one another? Or has our harsh spring heat gotten the best of them and they sound hard and scratchy?
- Find a spot it sit in the grass; place your hands down on either side of you and feel the connection of the ground to your body. Watch for ants and crickets and other insects moving around nearby as they go about their lives.
- Find a comfortable spot to be in and watch the clouds above; ask your parents if they spent time as a child looking for shapes and animals in the clouds! They may like to sit with you and help you see the outlines of an elephant or a kitchen sink in the sky above!
- Watch (from a safe spot) as light seems to break lines in the sky! An electrical storm can be frightening or overstimulating for some, with bright lightning strikes and loud thunder; but for others it can be intriguing or even relaxing to watch the white, purple and yellow strikes moving about the sky. According to google, for every second between a flash of lightning and the boom of thunder the storm distance is about 343m from where you are. Can you figure out how far away the storm is?
