Every person living with a disability has different needs and not all NDIS funding works the same way.
Your NDIS plan may be funded with 3 different support types: Core, Capacity Building, and Capital Supports.
𝟏. 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭
This is your most flexible budget, and includes four categories, namely: Consumables, Daily Activities, Assistance with Social and Community Participation, Transport
Tip: Your core supports funds can be used across categories, unless they’re set aside for specific items like transport, SDA, in-kind supports, or stated items. Always check your NDIS plan.
𝟐. 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭
This helps participants develop skills, independence, and confidence over time, and is allocated across eight support sub-categories.
Tip: Support Coordination is part of this budget type.
𝟑. 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭
Capital Supports are used for assistive technology and home modifications that support safety, mobility, and independence.
Understanding how each budget works can help you get the most out of your plan and avoid confusion when accessing supports.
