Let's talk about anxiety.
Most have been there right?

But What really is Anxiety, and What are the Symptoms?

Anxiety is a state of heightened awareness where we think something terrible or imminent will happen, even before it does, and in most cases, nothing occurs. The body then goes into a panic attack (known as fight or flight) that can result in numerous symptoms such as, but not limited to – dizziness, tightness in the chest, sweating, feeling like you are about to pass out, extreme stress, yelling, brain fog, a sudden change in energy levels, gorging on food to soothe or starving in shock. These symptoms are very real, and at Wide Bay Counselling, we can take the edge off any anxiety you or your loved ones may have.

While anxiety is certainly not a pleasant experience, there are ways in which our friendly, skilled and compassionate Counsellors can help you transform that high-intensity moment of big emotions into a calm wave of peace while remaining grounded in the present.

Of course, no one way suits everyone, which is why at Wide Bay Counselling, we are extremely diligent about your personal needs, thus tailoring a bespoke anxiety plan to help you manage. So, don’t let anxiety control your life. Instead, let us show you how to gain control of life and live it.

We are here to help.

Does This Sound Like You Or Someone You Know?

They/you react and are triggered by small things? Do they/you suddenly lose their/your cool and become extremely easy to anger? Do they/you retreat and hide away from everyday life, including foregoing responsibilities? Are they/you always complaining and seem scared about everything? Are they/you a control freak? Have their/your habits changed drastically, exerting unusual behaviour?

All of these examples could be a result of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

While people and often ourselves may not notice any changes in how we appear to the outside world, this lack of self-observation can lead to detrimental mental, psychological and health issues if not treated appropriately.

At Wide Bay Counselling, we will listen with an open heart and use our skilled knowledge and professionalism to support and guide our patients to a place of calm where they can once more gain control over their life.

Please contact us if you’d like to learn more about what we can offer. Our highly skilled and trained Trauma counsellors are here to help.

A little about us:

Our Approach:
Our approach is based on a holistic model of therapy that considers each of the psychological, physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your life. Our process includes an initial comprehensive consultation to help us better understand you and your current situation. Life isn’t about avoiding hard times.

It’s about learning from and growing because of them. But facing our issues head-on can be as hard as the hard times themselves. You don’t have to go it alone, help is here.

We understand that life is a journey full of twists and turns and that counselling won’t necessarily smooth the path ahead. What it will do is give you the tools to recognise your own emotional triggers so you can manage them in healthier, more positive ways.

Whether you’ve experienced trauma or you’re suffering through mental health or relationship challenges, you deserve to feel better. We can help make that happen.

Contact us today to book your initial session with one of our highly qualified counsellors.

Why do a workshop?

There’s a powerful connection that’s created between people coming together to share experiences, deepen their understanding, and learn and grow. This work is deeply grounded in the science of Attachment Theory, Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt Psychotherapy, and the principles of Compassionate-Focused Therapy.

Workshops can be tailored to suit your particular organisation’s or group’s needs or you may choose as an individual to join an existing workshop.

Topics we can cover include:
Trauma
Resilience building
Self-care and self-awareness
Mindfulness methods
The science of the nervous system

Workshops For Individuals:
We offer private trauma-informed workshops for individuals who are looking to deepen their knowledge and understanding on a range of topics including, but not limited to:

Anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions
Self-compassion and self-awareness
Mindfulness for Trauma
Presence training
Healing circles

Workshops For Organisations:
We can design a workshop to meet the needs of a specific group of people in your organisation and focus on topics relevant to your workplace. Key areas we can cover include:

Managing behaviour
Stress management and resilience
Critical incident debriefing
Improving self-esteem and confidence
Dealing with different personalities
