Let’s Talk About Sciatica 💥
Have you ever felt a sharp, burning pain that travels down your leg? It could be sciatica, a condition caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back down to your foot.
🧠 Who does it affect?
Sciatica most commonly affects middle-aged adults and is slightly more common in men. It’s often linked to a lumbar disc herniation that puts pressure on the nerve.
⚡ Common symptoms include:
Sharp, burning pain that travels down the leg
Numbness, tingling, or weakness in the leg or foot
Difficulty sitting or bending due to increased pain
💡 Myth Buster:
Not all leg or buttock pain is sciatica! Dull, achy pain in this area is often referred pain from joints, muscles, or discs, not the nerve itself.
🧍♂️ Physio Tips:
✅ Try the Cobra Stretch – Lie on your tummy and gently lift your chest off the floor using your hands. Repeat 6–10 times, a few times a day.
✅ Avoid prolonged sitting – Stand, walk, or lie down when sore to reduce pressure on your lower back.
At Barolin Physiotherapy, we use techniques such as lumbar myofascial release, spinal mobilisation, nerve flossing, and targeted exercises to help relieve pain and restore movement.
If you’re experiencing persistent leg pain, numbness, or weakness, our team can help identify the cause and get you moving comfortably again.
