Loss of a partner or family member.
Loss of a mate.
A relationship ending.
Loss of work, purpose, or direction.

Many men deal with it the only way they know how โ€” by pushing through, working harder, keeping busy while also keeping it to themselves.

But you donโ€™t have to do it alone.

Men Moving Forward is a small, respectful 9-week support group for men navigating life after loss.

No pressure to share more than you want.
No judgement.
Just a space with other men who understand that life can hit hard sometimes.

Together we explore practical ways to cope, rebuild, and move forward.

This program is run by trained male facilitators, who have also experienced loss.

Not sure what NDIS Social & Community Participation funding actually covers? ๐Ÿค”

This funding helps NDIS participants take part in social, community and recreational activities.

You may find it in two places in your NDIS plan:

๐Ÿ“ CORE Supports
๐Ÿ“ Capacity Building Supports

Both support community participation, but they work in different ways.

CORE Supports
Assistance with Social and Community Participation helps with support right now.

This may include a support worker helping you to:

๐ŸŽต Attend a concert
๐ŸŽฌ Go to the movies
๐Ÿ“š Visit your local library
๐ŸŒฑ Join a gardening group
โšฝ Take part in community activities

Supports can be delivered one-on-one or in a group, either in a centre or out in the community.

Capacity Building Supports
Increased Social and Community Participation focuses on building skills and independence.

This funding may help you learn how to:

๐Ÿ›’ Go shopping independently
๐ŸšŒ Use public transport
๐Ÿ’ฌ Join social activities and make friends
๐Ÿงพ Manage everyday tasks like paying bills

The goal is to develop skills that help you access the community more independently over time.

There are also important details around:

โœˆ๏ธ Provider travel
๐Ÿ“„ Non-face-to-face work like reports
โฐ Short notice cancellations

Understanding how this funding works can help you use it more effectively in your plan.

๐ŸšจThereโ€™s often a belief that choosing a registered NDIS provider is always the best option.

In reality, it simply depends on what works best for each participant.

Becoming a registered provider is a very expensive and complex process. Providers must go through audits, compliance requirements and ongoing reporting, which all come with significant costs.

Registered providers absolutely play an important role in the NDIS, especially for participants who need certain types of supports. But itโ€™s also worth remembering that many excellent providers choose to remain unregistered.

For some smaller, boutique providers, staying unregistered allows them to focus more of their time and resources on what matters most โ€” supporting participants.

Being unregistered doesnโ€™t mean a lower standard. Many unregistered providers pride themselves on: โœ” Personalised service
โœ” Flexibility
โœ” Faster response times
โœ” Building genuine relationships with the people they support

The NDIS was designed around choice and control, and that includes choosing the provider that feels right for you.

At Empowerment Support Services, we simply focus on providing quality support to the people we work with โ€” because at the end of the day, thatโ€™s what truly matters.
