We've been seeing lots of changes to children's plan in recent months. The NDIS have released this new children's booklet to help parents understand what good support for children looks like

We have made an easy-read Quality Supports for Children booklet, to help you understand in simple terms what providers should and must not do when providing care to your children.

A list of what services should be provided to your child to support their needs can be found in the booklet.

Hot off the press changes to STA now referred to as STR

Short term accommodation is now called short term respite.

We spoke with participants, families and carers about this change. Most told us that short term respite better reflects the value of informal supports and the importance of sustaining these relationships.

We know some people have concerns about the word β€˜respite’, but many carers and families use and understand it well. After considering all the feedback, we chose this name because it’s clear and widely recognised.

Short term respite gives you time away from your usual care arrangements, while your primary informal supports take a short break.

We’ve updated Our Guideline to make it easier for you to understand and use. It explains:

βœ… who can use short term respite

βœ… what it includes

βœ… how it works

βœ… where it can be used.

The NDIS have released a new PAPL today & new OG for Therapy Support

πŸ“’ We've updated the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits 2025-26.

The Pricing Arrangement and Price Limits lists the price limits for supports and any requirements related to claiming those supports. We regularly make changes to these documents to ensure that pricing and claiming guidance is in line with current policy.

The updates take effect on 24 November 2025.

By sharing this information earlier, we're helping to ensure:

πŸ‘‰ participants and families have more time to plan their funding

πŸ‘‰ providers have more time to prepare their services.

We have also released a new Operational Guideline for Therapy Supports.

The government wants to make sure the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports are safe, suitable and cost-effective for people with disability.

The NDIS Evidence Advisory Committee will review a range of supports to provide advice to government. The committee is looking at the first 6 supports.

Whether you use these supports or other supports for similar goals, research them or simply care about the NDIS β€” we want to hear from you.

Your input will help inform advice to government to improve outcomes for NDIS participants.

πŸ—“οΈ Consultation closes 11:59 pm AEDT 9 November 2025.

The team at DSC have written this great article on 'what qualifications, training, etc does my independent support worker need' . With more & more support workers choosing to operate as independents this article is a great source of information.

If we had a dollar for every time we’re asked this question, we’d have enough for a house deposit (well, probably in like 65 yrs… but that’s just the housing market for you). If you work in the NDIS, it’s a question you’ve probably been asked too:

β€œWhat qualifications/ registrations/ insurance do I need to enter the sector as an independent, unregistered disability support worker?”

In our latest Ask DSC, our resident risk and compliance guru Paula Spencer goes through the basic requirements workers need to meet- from the code of conduct to data security to running a business in Australia.

So next time someone asks you that question, you can flick them this article.
