Stronger Than Ever — Allison's Story

When you build something from the heart, you fight for it.

Our founder, Allison, faced a major health crisis that nearly took her life. Three major operations. Over 3 months in hospital. Six more months in bed, relying on support for basically everything. A permanent stoma to learn to live with.

We nearly lost it all. But instead of giving up, Allison did something remarkable — she rebuilt AAYDS even better.

Because during her own vulnerability, she experienced firsthand what inadequate support feels like. And she knew it had to change. It had to start with AAYDS.

Allison realised that consistency and experience matter, but so does something deeper: joy, genuine connection, shared interests. When your support worker actually *wants* to support you — when there's real care and personality fit — everything changes. Support becomes less depressing, less embarrassing, less boring. It becomes genuine.

That insight, born from her own crisis, is what makes AAYDS different.

Today, we support 25+ participants across the Moreton Bay area. And we're just getting started.

In honour of May, and everyone who deserves support that truly sees them.

Most people don’t realise how heavy it can feel
until they’re the one making the decisions.

When there are no clear wishes, no guidance, no conversations
families are left trying to do the right thing, while carrying the weight of uncertainty.
And in those moments, it’s not just about decisions.
It’s about emotions, pressure, and second guessing.
The beautiful thing is
this can be made so much easier.

With a little planning, a few conversations, and the right support, you can give your loved ones something incredibly valuable - clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.
This is where I gently help guide you.

Step by step. At your pace. In a way that feels calm and manageable.
If this is something you’ve been thinking about, take a quiet moment today and start the conversation
or explore how I can support you below.

When a resignation letter brings tears to your eyes, you know you're doing something right.

It's always hard to lose good staff. But when they leave with gratitude, respect, and heartfelt thanks for the support, mentorship, and environment you've created — that's when you know your culture is real.

To K and every member of the AAYDS team: Thank you. Thank you for showing up with compassion, for believing in our mission, for treating our participants like family, and for making this workplace somewhere people feel valued and appreciated every single day.

Your impact doesn't end when you leave — it carries forward in every life you've touched, every participant you've supported, and every team member you've inspired.

We're grateful for you. Always.

At AAYDS, we believe our team is everything. Because when your support workers feel genuinely valued and supported, our participants receive the best care possible.

If you're passionate about disability support and want to work in an environment where you're truly appreciated, we'd love to hear from you. Join a team that cares.

#
Our lovely Mark was badly beaten this morning while providing gardening services to a new client.
Due to small streets and it being bin day he had parked leaving what he thought was enough room for the garbage truck and cars to get in/out, the job would take an hour max, he wears earbuds while mowing. About 10 mins into the job, The unit attached to the customer had bought a car out of garage unseen by Mark as it was behind the car that was parked in driveway when he arrived. he got Marks attention by yelling from his car so Mark placed wiper sniper in trailer and got in car to move it, Mark started the car, put it in gear and the next thing the passenger door was ripped open and he was beaten in the face at least 6 times, as the guy had hold of him by the shirt and was pulling him toward the passenger side Mark couldn’t get away and all he could do was protect his face as best he could while the guy beat him again and again, Mark is now suffering a broken nose, chipped teeth, numerous other facial bruising and bruised hands.
FOR DOING HIS JOB!
Mark goes above and beyond for our community on a daily basis, for $56 per hr!
It was a newer area, no signs to make you watch your back, he was beaten by someone we have since found out has mental health issues.
Yes we have video evidence, yes a police report was made and he will be charged but it proves this can happen to anyone, anywhere.
This doesn’t just affect Mark, it personally affects the lovely lady we were trying to assist today (who now carry’s guilt she shouldn’t) and all his regular clients while he recovers from both the physical and mental damage.
As Mark works solo, AAYDS will no longer be taking on any new clients unless i can assure that Mark will be safe providing services, this will limit people in estates or with limited available parking because unfortunately that is now deemed a risk to his safety regardless of area.
Thank you to the mother with young child that called emergency services and the couple that supported Mark until they arrived, I can’t thank you enough.
It’s a sad day when anyone doing their job is bashed, let alone someone in a vehicle signed with .
