When you build something from the heart, you fight for it.
Our founder, Allison, faced a major health crisis that nearly took her life. Three major operations. Over 3 months in hospital. Six more months in bed. A permanent stoma to learn to live with. We nearly lost it all.
But instead of giving up, Allison fought. She was determined to rebuild AAYDS® — not just as it was, but better. Because during her recovery, she experienced firsthand what inadequate support looks like. And she knew it had to change.
That's when the real breakthrough happened. Allison realised that consistency and experience weren't enough. Support workers who genuinely care about their job, who share interests with participants, who bring joy and connection to the work — that's what makes the difference between good support and GREAT support.
That's what makes reaching your goals actually fun and sometimes the goal is just to get through the day.
