Harbison

Harbison Harbison is a community-owned, not-for-profit organisation in the Southern Highlands of NSW.

For over 65 years, we’ve supported people through every stage of life with trusted care, connection and wellbeing for all ages. Harbison is a community-owned not-for-profit approved aged care provider committed to safe and quality care services. We have two locations on the traditional lands of the Gundungarra people, at Moss Vale and Burradoo (Bowral), in the Southern Highlands of NSW. We offer the full range of care and lifestyle services to support older people as their needs change. This includes a range of aged care accommodation: specialised dementia care, respite care, residential care, home care, palliative care and NDIS. In 1956, Harbison was established in the Southern Highlands by a group of volunteers who recognised a high, local need for aged care services. After more than sixty years, we remain dedicated to serving the local community and are a thriving organisation, employing over 350 staff. We are proud of the history we have in this beautiful area and with the generations who live here. We truly believe we offer the best place to grow old in the Southern Highlands.

Recently, Harbison Board Member, Sarah Pryor, spent time in the kitchen at Harbison Moss Vale as part of a Buddy Shift, rolling up her sleeves and experiencing firsthand the incredible work our kitchen team does every day.👩‍🍳

From the moment she arrived, Sarah was put straight to work! While it may have been outside her comfort zone, she embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and gained valuable insight into the pace, teamwork and dedication that goes into preparing meals for our residents.

A big thank you to our amazing kitchen team who welcomed Sarah so warmly and showed her the ropes.

Opportunities like this help build a deeper understanding and appreciation for the vital work happening across Harbison every day.💙

Thank you for your kind words, Liam. We love having you and Keanu at Harbison Playgroup

Seeing families feel comfortable and thrive in our environment is incredibly special, and it brings our Playgroup and Intergenerational team so much joy. It reinforces how important it is for us to continue creating inclusive opportunities for everyone in our local community and at Harbison.

We are lucky to welcome such a diverse mix of ages, abilities and cultures to our playgroups, and that diversity is what makes them so special. We feel incredibly fortunate 💙

"The Harbison Play Group is the best activity for babies/toddlers and parents to do in the Southern Highlands. I have been going every week for the past year and often multiple times a week because I love it. All the staff are so nice and put such an effort into making the play group special for the children. They are all so good at working with children and they become your friends as parents. You get to know the residents too, who are so happy to be a part of the experience and are great to have involved and apart of the program." Liam, Playgroup member

How Nobi works and why its changing everyday life at Harbison.

When we introduced Nobi smart lighting at Harbison, we weren’t just looking for a fall alarm. We were looking for a smarter, more human/person centred way to support daily life.

Nobi can prevent over 80% of falls by combining automated lighting, AI detection and real-time support for care teams.

Here’s what makes Nobi different:

✨Automated night lighting✨
Nobi responds to movement, offering soft light when a resident sits up and brighter light when they stand or walk. This helps reduce disorientation and supports safer movement at night, when most falls occur.

✨Instant fall detection✨
If a fall happens, Nobi alerts our care team in seconds, so help can arrive quickly. Response times can be reduced from minutes to seconds.

✨Smarter insights for staff✨
Nobi provides anonymised visual context around a fall, helping teams understand what happened and how to prevent it in the future.

✨Designed for connection✨
Two-way voice allows staff and residents to communicate immediately, creating reassurance and real human connection.

✨Privacy and dignity first✨
Residents remain in control at all times. Blurred images protect privacy while still providing the information needed for safe care.

At Harbison, we actively seek innovations that improve quality of life, safety and independence. We are proud to be setting the pace for thoughtful, modern aged care in Australia.

🏡 Home isn’t just a place. It’s how you feel.

It’s being known by name. Feeling comfortable. Being understood. It’s connection, familiar faces, quiet moments, and shared stories. It’s having support to make your own decisions and live your life with choice.

At Harbison, we focus on creating environments, and relationships, where people feel safe, valued, and connected.

Because care should feel like belonging, not just support 🌱💙

This International Women’s Day, we came together to celebrate the incredible women of Harbison, and the many ways they contribute, lead and care within our community and beyond.

Over a champagne high tea, we were delighted to be joined by special guest Jen Elton, Chair of the Harbison Board. It was wonderful to have her with us as part of the celebration. 🥂

It was a meaningful day of conversation, appreciation and shared stories, a true reflection of the strength that comes from women supporting women.
Here’s to strong women.

May we know them, be them, raise them. 🚺💪

SPICE has officially launched at Harbison, and what a fantastic start it’s been! 👏

It has been wonderful to see participants so engaged, connected and genuinely enjoying each session.

Designed to support people living with mild to moderate dementia and their care partners, SPICE combines movement, cognitive stimulation, personalised support and meaningful connection in a welcoming environment.

The program has been warmly received, with lovely feedback from both participants and care partners. The energy, encouragement and care shared in every session is truly inspiring.

We are proud to be delivering SPICE in the Southern Highlands for the very first time.

Our Story

Harbison is a residential community providing aged care services for older people across two locations in Burradoo and Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands.

We offer the full range of care and lifestyle services to support older people as their needs change. This includes a range of aged care accommodation: independent living, home care, respite care, residential care, specialised dementia care and palliative care.

Our accommodation provides quality, integrated aged care and lifestyle services to our residents, enabling them to age in place. They experience a ‘continuum of care’ within a genuinely caring and social village-like environment without the need to move.

In 1956, Harbison was established in the Southern Highlands by a group of volunteers who recognised a high, local need for aged care services. After more than sixty years, we remain dedicated to serving the local community and are a thriving organisation, employing over 350 staff.
