Harbison

Harbison Harbison is a community-owned, not-for-profit organisation in the Southern Highlands of NSW.

For over 65 years, we’ve supported people through every stage of life with trusted care, connection and wellbeing for all ages. Harbison is a community-owned not-for-profit approved aged care provider committed to safe and quality care services. We have two locations on the traditional lands of the Gundungarra people, at Moss Vale and Burradoo (Bowral), in the Southern Highlands of NSW. We offer the full range of care and lifestyle services to support older people as their needs change. This includes a range of aged care accommodation: specialised dementia care, respite care, residential care, home care, palliative care and NDIS. In 1956, Harbison was established in the Southern Highlands by a group of volunteers who recognised a high, local need for aged care services. After more than sixty years, we remain dedicated to serving the local community and are a thriving organisation, employing over 350 staff. We are proud of the history we have in this beautiful area and with the generations who live here. We truly believe we offer the best place to grow old in the Southern Highlands.

A very special visitor at Harbison Moss Vale 🐶🐾

At 88, Una knows just how powerful a little companionship can be… especially when it arrives on four paws!

Coco her Labrador, visits Una regularly at Harbison, giving her the connection and joy she’s always had with dogs throughout her life.

“Living in a place where pets are welcomed, even as visitors, means everything,” Una says.💙

We are proud to support moments like this at Harbison, creating a place where people can continue their relationships, routines and comforts that matter most to them.

🌍🚴‍♀️ Harbison vs the World 🚴‍♂️🌍

This week, Harbison residents hit the ground pedalling with the commencement of the Motiview Winter/Summer Championships! A fun, global cycling challenge bringing senior communities together from Australia and around the world.

Think of it as a mini Road Worlds for Seniors: two weeks of movement, motivation and friendly competition, where every pedal counts. 💪✨

We’ll be riding alongside hundreds of older adults internationally, flying the Harbison flag and showing what our community can do, all while staying active, connected and having a lot of fun.

Let the games begin! 🚩🌏

Motiview is movement that creates connection! 🚴‍♂️🤝

Our Motiview program helps older adults stay active in a way that feels enjoyable, familiar, and meaningful...especially for people living with dementia.

We have seen the benefits firsthand, including:

🚴 stronger engagement with physical activity
😊 improved mood and confidence
🦵 better mobility and reduced falls risk
🤝 social connection with staff, families and volunteers

Thank you for celebrating creativity with us, Judy!

Late last year, we were honoured to welcome Judy Hannan MP to Harbison’s Inaugural Art Exhibition and sincerely thank her for such a generous acknowledgement of the day.

The exhibition showcased the incredible talent, imagination and stories of our residents and volunteers across Burradoo and Moss Vale.

It was a joy to share the day with residents, families, volunteers and guests including community leaders, local artists and supporters, all coming together to celebrate creativity, connection and wellbeing.

Art plays such an important role in keeping people active, engaged and connected.

Thank you again, Judy, for your support and for celebrating what makes Harbison so special.

Care shouldn’t change who you are. 💙

At Harbison, support starts with the person, not the service.
Your routines. Your preferences. Your history. Your identity. 🌿

We believe care works best when it fits around life, not the other way around. When people are supported to keep being themselves, with the right help in the moments it’s needed.

Because dignity isn’t something you lose with age, it’s something you deserve, always. ✨

At Harbison, we are committed to continually improving the way we support people living with dementia. 💙

As part of our response to the strengthen Standards, we’ve implemented 📱 Tell TiNA, Dementia Australia ’s Training Needs Analysis Tool, available through the Ask Annie app (a learning and support app developed by Dementia Australia to help health, aged care, disability and community care workers improve their skills).

Tell TiNA helps identify learning opportunities for care teams, ensuring skills and knowledge continue to evolve alongside best practice.

We completed our first Tell TiNA campaign late last year and we’re excited to turn these insights into meaningful, targeted professional development, strengthening our care today and into the future.

Because being a leader in care means never standing still, it means listening, learning and setting the standard. 💪

Our Story

Harbison is a residential community providing aged care services for older people across two locations in Burradoo and Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands.

We offer the full range of care and lifestyle services to support older people as their needs change. This includes a range of aged care accommodation: independent living, home care, respite care, residential care, specialised dementia care and palliative care.

Our accommodation provides quality, integrated aged care and lifestyle services to our residents, enabling them to age in place. They experience a ‘continuum of care’ within a genuinely caring and social village-like environment without the need to move.

In 1956, Harbison was established in the Southern Highlands by a group of volunteers who recognised a high, local need for aged care services. After more than sixty years, we remain dedicated to serving the local community and are a thriving organisation, employing over 350 staff.
