Harbison

Harbison Harbison has provided professional aged care and support to the Southern Highlands, for more than 60

Harbison is a community-owned not-for-profit approved aged care provider committed to safe and quality care services. We have two locations on the traditional lands of the Gundungarra people, at Moss Vale and Burradoo (Bowral), in the Southern Highlands of NSW. We offer the full range of care and lifestyle services to support older people as their needs change. This includes a range of aged care accommodation: specialised dementia care, respite care, residential care, home care, palliative care and NDIS. In 1956, Harbison was established in the Southern Highlands by a group of volunteers who recognised a high, local need for aged care services. After more than sixty years, we remain dedicated to serving the local community and are a thriving organisation, employing over 350 staff. We are proud of the history we have in this beautiful area and with the generations who live here. We truly believe we offer the best place to grow old in the Southern Highlands.

At Harbison, we are committed to continually improving the way we support people living with dementia. 💙

As part of our response to the strengthen Standards, we’ve implemented 📱 Tell TiNA, Dementia Australia ’s Training Needs Analysis Tool, available through the Ask Annie app (a learning and support app developed by Dementia Australia to help health, aged care, disability and community care workers improve their skills).

Tell TiNA helps identify learning opportunities for care teams, ensuring skills and knowledge continue to evolve alongside best practice.

We completed our first Tell TiNA campaign late last year and we’re excited to turn these insights into meaningful, targeted professional development, strengthening our care today and into the future.

Because being a leader in care means never standing still, it means listening, learning and setting the standard. 💪

Meet Gabby, our amazing Deputy Personal Care Manager at Moss Vale 🫶
For almost eight years, Gabby has been a valued member of the Harbison family, starting as a Carer at our Burradoo home before moving into her current role as DPCM.

"The turning point in wanting to move into different areas of Harbison was to support a team that I knew the day-to-day challenges and rewards. I wanted to make a difference in the staff, make them feel supported and encourage them to further their skills."

✨How Gabby describes Harbison: Inclusive, innovative, empowering 🙌
✨What it’s like to work here? Rewarding, dynamic and supportive 🤝
✨On a personal note: She loves spending time with her 2 Kelpie dogs 🐶🐶

We’re incredibly grateful to support Gabby on her learning and leadership journey, and proud to invest in the growth of people who are so deeply committed to our teams and those we care for 💙

A wonderful day was had at the St Michael’s Walk-a-Thon last week! 🎉

Our residents are quickly becoming very popular among the students 😄

Some of our residents joined in for a lap around Lake Alexandra 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️, while others helped run the water station, filling drink bottles and handing out refreshing watermelon and orange slices 🍉🍊

We brought water, we brought shade and most importantly… we brought the cheer squad! 🙌

Well done to all the students for completing the Walk-a-Thon in the heat and thank you for inviting us to be part of such a fun and meaningful day! 💚

It’s beginning to feel very festive at Harbison! 🎄

With the support of our Activities Team, our amazing Ladies Leisure group, led by Donna Martin and Wendy Davis, handcrafted beautiful Christmas gifts for our Care and Nursing staff.

Watching residents proudly hand over their thoughtful creations was so special, such a lovely reminder of the strong connections shared across our community.

A heartfelt thank you to Wendy Davis for generously giving so much of her own time to help fundraise for this project. Your dedication makes a real difference. ❤️

The Christmas spirit is alive and shining brightly! ✨

Happy International Volunteers Day! 💙

Today we celebrate the incredible people who give their time, energy and heart to our Harbison community. This year alone, our volunteers committed a massive 45,000+ hours, and every single one made a meaningful difference.

With more than 47 dedicated volunteers, our community is enriched through the events they run, the activities and outings they facilitate, and the connection, conversation, and companionship they share so generously.

Harbison is a community legacy and we simply wouldn’t be who we are without volunteers with passion, purpose and heart.

Our Story

Harbison is a residential community providing aged care services for older people across two locations in Burradoo and Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands.

We offer the full range of care and lifestyle services to support older people as their needs change. This includes a range of aged care accommodation: independent living, home care, respite care, residential care, specialised dementia care and palliative care.

Our accommodation provides quality, integrated aged care and lifestyle services to our residents, enabling them to age in place. They experience a ‘continuum of care’ within a genuinely caring and social village-like environment without the need to move.

In 1956, Harbison was established in the Southern Highlands by a group of volunteers who recognised a high, local need for aged care services. After more than sixty years, we remain dedicated to serving the local community and are a thriving organisation, employing over 350 staff.
