We are counting down the days til the Radiance Perinatal Mental Health Symposium on 18th February in Busselton! I’m very excited that Miranda will be sharing the gift of sound with us to close the event. If you would like to join us, please visit the Radiance website to purchase your ticket.

At our upcoming symposium, we are totally focused on nourishing. The day brings a couple of extra treats for our attendees including a sound session with Miranda. It's rather incredible when you peruse the list of benefits associated with sound sessions.

Like oxygen and water, our body and mind are essential to our survival. It's like an invisible highway that links all the different things that happen in our bodies. The way we feel, how we keep our energy levels up and how we present ourselves in life are how well our body functions. Working with sound is one way our body and mind can be nourished.

Sound Therapy Benefits may include:
· Relieves anxiety and depression, calming the mind
· Creates deep relaxation providing physical and mental relief
· Improves mental capacity and concentration
· Supports physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing
· Reduces stress and nervous tension
· Deeply nurturing and supportive promoting self-care and resilience
· Works to align and balance the nervous system
· Relieves and loosens tightness in muscles, joints, ligaments, and tendons
· Awakens your senses and subconscious mind
· Restores inner harmony with a positive influence on self-confidence and body image
· Improves the energy flow of the body
· Creates calm space for inner journeys of self-reflection
· Deeply relaxing and nurturing for pregnant women

We are really looking forward to working with Miranda.

Come with an open mind, let go of any expectations and be gentle with yourself.

I'm delighted to share this recently published paper that I co-authored with a multidisciplinary team of clinical researchers from rural Western Australia. It's the first Delphi study in the world to establish maternity research priorities for rural maternal health care, so we are hopeful that future research projects here in rural WA will be inspired to investigate the issues deemed most important by rural maternal health providers working on the front line.

And that’s a wrap! 2022 ASLM conference is finished. My head is brimming with ideas and my heart is full of gratitude for the team that delivered this inspiring weekend of learning, sharing and networking.

I’m looking forward to digesting the knowledge I have injested over the past 2 days as I embark on a 4 week adventure with my husband and daughters along the East coast of Australia.

When I get home, I will be implementing many of the tools and practices I have learnt about at this conference from day one back on the job. What a joy and a privilege it is to serve my patients, students and community using a Lifestyle Medicine approach.

This weekend I am attending the Australian Lifestyle Medicine conference in Cairns. Day 1 has been such a wonderful, inspiring and heartwarming day of presentations and conversations around the health benefits of mindfulness meditation, exercise, nutrition, social connection and time in nature. We have also discussed the science of behaviour change and the need for societal and political change to support healthy lifestyles. I feel hopeful that the Lifestyle Medicine movement is alive and working actively towards positive transformation, but there is still much work to be done!
