Jennys Jamu
I have been travelling to Indo for over 40yrs
I have always believed food is medicine & around 12yrs ago my gorgeous Javanese friend started teaching me about jamu
I loved everything about it
Handmade - with intention - whole raw ingredients - šŸ™šŸ§”
He taught me a few recipes & I came back started making it for friends & family 🄰
Then it was a decision to keep making jamu but as a small business in our kitchen handmade with Australian certified organic & biodynamic products
Over 10years and we have stayed true 🄰 no big mass produced long life product - still handmade in our kitchen
Always thankful & respectful to the origins of Jamu & Jamu lady šŸ™

If ever there were a spice that puts existential fear into the bottom line of pharmaceutical companies, it’s turmeric.
Considering how strong a track record turmeric (curcumin) has, having been used as both food and medicine in a wide range of cultures, for thousands of years.

Or, better yet, use certified organic (non-irradiated) turmeric in lower culinary doses on a daily basis so that heroic doses won’t be necessary later in life after a serious disease sets in. Nourishing yourself, rather than self-medicating with ā€˜nutraceuticals,’ should be the goal of a healthy diet.

Turmeric is one the most thoroughly researched plants in existence today. Its medicinal properties and components (primarily curcumin) have been the subject of over 5600 peer-reviewed and published biomedical studies.

Turmeric: The Golden Spice for Dementia Prevention

Dementia is a growing global health crisis, with over 50 million people worldwide currently living with the condition. As populations age, this number is expected to triple by 2050. With no cure on the horizon, prevention is key. Exciting new research shows that turmeric, the golden spice that gives curry its vibrant color and zesty flavor, could be a potent tool for warding off dementia.

Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound with robust anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and plaque-clearing effects in the brain. These properties provide multiple means by which turmeric may prevent the development and progression of dementia, especially Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form.

Due to its incredibly diverse pharmacological properties, turmeric has been shown to benefit nearly every organ system and bodily process.
BRAIN - The curcumin in turmeric is a neuroprotective powerhouse. It boosts BNDF, reduces neuroinflammation, inhibits plaque formation, and raises serotonin and dopamine levels. These effects boost cognition, memory, mood, and protection against neurodegenerative diseases.
HEART - Curcumin improves circulation by lowering cholesterol and triglycerides, preventing blood clots, discouraging plaque build-up, and relaxing blood vessels. These vascular effects significantly reduce risk of heart attacks and stroke.
LIVER - Turmeric stimulates bile production while its antioxidants protect liver tissue from toxins and damage. Early research also shows potential for turmeric supplements to help regenerate liver cells.
GUT - Turmeric soothes intestinal inflammation, improves gut permeability, and balances gut flora populations. This aids in digestion, absorption, and overall GI health.
JOINTS / SKELETAL SYSTEM - Curcumin works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs for arthritis pain relief. It blocks inflammatory cytokines, reduces joint swelling, protects cartilage, and improves overall joint function.
IMMUNE SYSTEM - Turmeric optimizes immune function. It enhances antibody and T cell responses, increases cancer-fighting cells, and regulates inflammation for a balanced immune response.
ENDOCRINE SYSTEM - Turmeric shows promise at balancing hormone levels, particularly thyroid hormones. The antioxidant effects also protect hormone-producing glands from damage.

In summary, turmeric’s unique combination of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and regulatory properties make it highly beneficial for nearly every bodily system and organ. Adding this super spice into your daily health regimen can provide whole-body protection.

INFLAMMATION
If a person’s immune system is over reactive and releasing a high level of inflammatory chemicals, this speeds up the damage to the brain cells caused by Alzheimer’s plaques. The thing is, the brain is largely comprised of fat. Fatty acids are delicate and easily oxidized and damaged by inflammatory chemicals. Therefore if you want to protect your brain, you need to keep levels of inflammation in your body down. Sandra Cabot Liver Dtr

WHOLEFOODS OVER EVERYTHING .šŸ™
When food is manipulated into more ā€œconvenientā€ forms, such as powders or supplements, essential compounds and nutrients are stripped away. In turmeric’s case, its bioavailability becomes extremely low, meaning our bodies aren’t able to put all of turmeric’s therapeutic qualities to use.

Whole foods are always better. Before purchasing your health supplements check the ingredients. Enquire about how the product was made, how the digestive system takes in different nutrients, and begin familiarizing yourself with how YOUR body responds to different foods/nutrients. Aim to cook with whole foods as often as possible, and enjoy the process🌻

The journey of health can be frustrating, but it can also be beautifully explorative and intuitive. Be patient and kind with yourself as grow with the curiosity of your healthšŸ™ƒ 🧔
