The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has announced key reforms and compliance actions that will impact disability providers across Australia.

✅ Stronger compliance around safe mealtime management (especially for participants with swallowing difficulties)
✅ Upgrades to provider registration, complaints and incident reporting systems from April 2026
✅ New reforms for Supported Independent Living (SIL) from 1 July 2026
✅ Increased focus on preventing violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation
✅ Consumer rights protections highlighted in a new report by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has released important updates reinforcing participant safety, provider accountability, and fair, transparent service delivery across the NDIS.
Here’s what you should know 👇
🔒 Safety Is Non-Negotiable

The NDIS Commission has strengthened its complaints process, introducing:
• Clearer information
• Easy Read resources
• Short explainer videos
A new risk-based approach ensures serious concerns are addressed quickly.
We support open communication and encourage participants and families to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.
💰 Fair Pricing Under the NDIS Code of Conduct
A new Code of Conduct video highlights the importance of fair pricing.
NDIS participants must never be charged more than non-participants for the same goods without valid justification.

📝 Improving Service Agreements
The NDIA and NDIS Commission are inviting feedback to make service agreements clearer and easier to understand.
