Today is Remembrance Day, the day we pay our respects to those who never came home from war. But they are not the only casualties of war. There are those who lost a piece of themselves, heart, mind or body. There are those who find it too hard to live in this world and feel they don't deserve it. There are the families who suffer watching the pain their loved one is in and sometimes bearing the brunt of that pain. So when you buy a poppy today, or go to your RSL, spare a thought for those other casualties of war and be kind.

Today I'm feeling grateful for the life I've lived, the good and the bad. The bad has taught me a lot and to appreciate the good. The other thing I am grateful for are the people I've met. Working in pharmacy I have worked for and with, people from many cultures. When you spend time in this way you become friends. I am grateful for family who have shown me the beauty of first nations people. This has given me insight and empathy for what others go through and experience. If you have no knowledge or life experience of other cultures it can leave you frightened or intolerant of others. I don't often speak this way because this is not a political page but the world would be a better place if only we opened our minds and communicated with others. With knowledge comes understanding.

I have a pain scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being an irritant and 10 is unconscious. Anything under 5 is a nuisance and to be endured but over 5 is causing interference in my life.
I live with pain. I'm getting tested for inflammatory markers and an x ray on my bad knee. Which brings me to today when my good knee buckled on me. It's calmed down to a 2 and I can manage it with linament.
Pain is very personal. My 8 may be someone else's 5 or 12. There are many ways to deal with pain, how you manage your pain is up to you. Ask me for some ideas.

My grandson is sick at the moment. It's the fourth bug he has had in two weeks. Now, there are two reasons for this.
1, he is in child care and people send their kids there when they are sick, They either have to do this because of work or don't really care if others get infected.
2, once you have been sick, your immune system is tired and it is easier to get sick again.
To break the cycle you need a circuit breaker. The immune system needs to be built up again so it can fight properly. When kids are little there is not a lot of options. Once he turns two there is slightly more but under two you can us probiotics because a lot of the immune system is located in the gut. Reiki can also be used as it is energy healing.
