Brothers and Sisters in Arms

Brothers and Sisters in Arms Brothers and Sisters in Arms is a disability service. We provide holistic care plans that cater to individual needs to promote supported independence.

My name is Dan,
I have an Army and Nursing background and have recently felt called to move into the disability support sector. At current Brothers and Sisters in Arms is about providing support coordination surrounding the disability sector. Our aim is to provide holistic care plans that cater for the individual and assist in building and maintaining an independent lifestyle. For some time, I have felt that the disability sector has been difficult to navigate and at times I still find this. We as a company want to provide a service that takes the stress out of managing the NDIS and seek to assist you in getting what you need through the NDIS. If you find the process of managing your disability or disability services overwhelming, We are here to tell you that it does not need to be this way anymore and that we don't want you to battle this alone. Why is social support important for mental health?

🙂‍↔️ Reduces stress
Social support can help people feel less stressed and have a smaller physiological response to stress.

😄 Improves mood
Social support can help people feel better and have a more positive outlook.

Having social support can reduce stress, anxiety and feelings of loneliness which betters your quality of life.

With October being Mental Health Awareness Month, its important to have open discussions about what the triggers can be, as well as solutions, or things that may help.

If you or a loved one is struggling, there is help available. Talk to someone today and keep the conversation open. You are not alone.

What is Youth Mentoring?

Youth mentoring is a supportive relationship between a young person and an adult that can help the young person develop and thrive.

It can help young people in many ways, including:

• Sense of belonging
Mentoring can help young people feel like they matter and are not alone.

• Academic achievement
Mentoring can help young people improve their academic performance and graduate high school.

• Mental health
Developing supportive relationships can help young people's mental health, and can reduce their risk of developing mental health challenges.

• Social skills
Youth mentoring can help young people develop social skills and improve their relationships with parents, teachers, and peers.

• Self-esteem
With guidance from a mentor, young people often develop self-esteem, self-confidence and self worth.

• Career exploration
Mentoring can help young people explore careers and develop leadership skills.

• College access
Mentoring can help young people access college and pursue higher educational aspirations.

Mentoring programs can also help to address the need for connection, which can be important for both young people and adults.
