ROLLING STONES: Surgeons at Cairns Hospital are leading the way with 'SpyGlass', a state-of-the-art, minimally invasive procedure to remove gallstones, allowing most patients to go home the next day.

This keyhole surgery, championed by hospital surgeons (📸 L-R) Christian Beardsley, Esh Jeyarajan, and Omar Mouline reduces complications and improves patient recovery times.

With a high incidence of gallstone disease, especially among First Nations patients, the team performs four operations daily.

A diet low in fat, high in fiber, and rich in fruits, veggies, coffee, or tea can help prevent gallstones.
