Our goal moving forward is to provide those in our community with the opportunity to train at one of our gym locations.

Here are the models in which we work to ensure you feel safety and trust when starting training:

● Person centred
● Strengths focused
● Trauma informed
● Recovery Model

I understand the stigma that can be associated with a 24/7 gym. We have taken significant steps in education and training to reduce the triggering effects of entering into a space like a gym.

We work with our Personal trainers to ensure they also are supporting you whenever you come in.

The gym isn't for everyone. Maybe you've had a bad experience or heard about one? Or maybe you have a membership but find it really challenging to develop the habit? For that I understand your thoughts and fears. Please know we aim to do things differently so you thoroughly enjoy your experience.

Check out our website in the bio for our blog posts!

Our Exercise Physiologist using sign to explain a standing thoracic extension movement.

Bri grew up learning Australian sign language. Her best friends father is deaf and will still talk with him each week to learn new signs.

This means that we now offer Exercise Physiology sessions to those who use sign as communication!!

We will aim to develop some interesting content on the current health of deaf Australians and some helpful videos.

Last day of my 7 day lock down!

Practising regular gratitude has been shown to improve mood and help with regulation of negative affect. So here is my list.

• I have gratitude for getting to spend more time with my wife and daughter
• I have gratitude that majority of our clients who are well and able could still be trained
• I have gratitude that my symptoms were mild
• I have gratitude for the support from family, friends and colleagues I received

Let's face it...we're all tired and fatigued from the past 2 years living with Covid-19. But our intrinsic capacity to refocus, regulate and create joy is what has made us so successful over our existence.

So maybe spending some time each day listing what you have gratitude for, can just pull you out of your head long enough to just breathe.

Don't simplify or explain away someone's experience of pain!!

Create a simple plan or strategy so that at any time from "really uncomfortable" to "feeling good" you feel empowered to take action, move or actively rest.

This simple stepped model I draw up is an ever changing strategy to empower our clients and gain back confidence in their sense of self and body ownership.

Our preference is that everyone adhere to some form of regular movement and strengthening based exercise so you build your capacity for tolerance.

Keep at it team 🤙🤙

If we were going to understand the influence that trauma has on the increased development to chronic disease, pain, mental illness, depression, anxiety, stroke... (you get my point), then we would need to talk about all of this.
Plus some more that I havnt included.

As practitioners we can empower those in our communities by becoming more

So get amongst it.

These have been awesome to play with. Bringing a sense of play and competition to a session can bring out your inner child who just wants to have fun.

Don't ever forget that your health journey (while challenging), should be made enjoyable and meaningful.

Interoceptive Awareness.

Essentially this means being in touch with your body's feelings and sensations. During exercise there are a number of benefits to this...
☆ Determining whether discomfort or pain is ok while you're moving or under load

☆ Reducing unnecessary thoughts that can be distracting

☆ Creating a connection to the self, which can be blocked by pain or psychological trauma

So when you're moving, lifting, stretching or just sitting, go into your body and get to know and understand these physical feelings.

Trauma and emotional dysregulation are 2 significant influencers in our ability to understand your story and regulate your daily experience.

Whether it be our own limitations, or that of others who we interact and are influenced by, we all experience it.

Understanding your own emotional health and unconscious reactions can set you on a path to understand how your childhood, adolescence and adulthood have been influenced by the trauma others have experienced. It can help you view their history and stories through a compassionate and non-judgmental lense.

The reason I do this is to not feel stuck. So I can grow. Heal. Move forward. Feel healthy.

Trauma-informed living
