School holidays sorted.

Playgroups might be closed over the holidays, but the Cairns Region Toy Library is offering a free pop-up play space for families.

This is a great opportunity for children to explore, play, and connect through hands-on, open-ended play in a relaxed and welcoming environment. It’s also a chance for families to learn more about what the Toy Library has to offer.

We are incredibly grateful to be partnering with the wonderful team at HMS Community - Homecare & Clinic as we begin supporting families in the Gisborne and Macedon Ranges community.

At Nurturing Life Connections, collaboration with local services is incredibly important to us. Working together allows us to provide more connected and holistic support for children and their families, and we are truly thankful to be working alongside such a welcoming and dedicated team.

Our therapist Tracey, who holds a Bachelor of Social Work and has been part of the Nurturing Life Connections team for over 18 months, will be commencing sessions at HMS Community from March 2026. Tracey provides play-based therapeutic support that focuses on nurturing social, emotional and developmental growth for children in a safe and engaging environment.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the HMS Community team for their support, professionalism and commitment to supporting local families. Partnerships like this help create strong, supportive networks where children and families can truly thrive.

Volunteering is something that fills my cup just as much as my clinical work does.

Being part of the Cairns Toy Library community allows me to support families in a different (but equally meaningful) way — through access to quality toys, connection, and inclusive play spaces.

As a Paediatric Allied Health Professional, I see every day how powerful play is for social, emotional, and cognitive development. Being able to give back to the community that supports our families is something I truly value.

💚 Jazmyn

On Friday evening, committee member volunteers Jazmyn and Andrea represented our wonderful Cairns Toy Library with a pop-up at the 2026 Defence Member and Family Support Info Expo. The event provided an opportunity for newly posted-in and existing Defence members and their families to meet various people from organisations within Cairns. The Cairns Region Toy Library took the opportunity to showcase our services, with the highlight being the mini roller-coaster!

We look forward to meeting all the new families in the near future.

When you connect with Nurturing Life Connections, you are not just working with one therapist. You are supported by our whole team.

We take a collaborative, family-centred approach, offering parent support, capacity building and one-on-one meetings to focus on what matters most to you and your family. Support doesn’t stop at the session. We are available face to face, by phone, via Teams or Telehealth, and when questions come up between sessions you can reach out by text or email and we will respond during business hours.

Families and the childcare centres and schools supporting their child also have access to our shared Resource Hub to help keep everyone aligned.

- Fortnightly sessions available Wednesdays and Fridays in Cairns
- Now accepting families in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria
- Telehealth available

We work alongside families, not just children, to build confidence, understanding and meaningful progress.

As we commence the new year, we’re pleased to share that Mrs Jaz will be recommencing therapy at the end of January, meaning Nurturing Life Connections has availability for new clients with Mrs Jaz and Mrs Cate.

⚠️ Important Safety Alert for Parents, Carers & Teachers ⚠️

The ACCC has recalled several brands of children’s coloured sand after traces of asbestos were found.
Products include Kadink Sand, Educational Colours Rainbow Sand and Creatistics Coloured Sand sold at Officeworks, Modern Teaching Aids, Zart Art, and others between 2020–2025.

👉 Stop using these products immediately
👉 Store safely and contact the supplier for refund/disposal info
👉 Do not throw in general waste
