ARC Disability

ARC Disability As the largest independent NDIS service provider in Cairns, ARC Disability has been providing 'more than just support' since 1976.

Established in 1976 by a group of parents with a vision for their children, we pride ourselves on being person focused, friendly, flexible and fun! Our Vision is that people who have a disability are empowered to reach their full potential, dreams and aspirations, enabling them to enjoy a fulfilling life of their choosing as valued members of the community. We work collaboratively with our service users, their support networks and the community to facilitate a range of options and opportunities which promote active participation for all.

Today is International Women's Day! 🌏

This year, the United Nations theme is 'Balance the Scales" - highlighting the urgent need to ensure fair, inclusive and accessible justice for every woman and girl.

Today we're giving a big shout out to the amazing women in the ARC community - women with disability, family members, carers, advocates, suporters and staff. And we're backing a future where the scales keep tipping further toward inclusion, safety and equal access for all.

Happy International Women's Day. πŸ’

Your voice matters! πŸ“£

QDN's Voice of Queenslanders with Disability Survey is an opportunity to have your say. Every response helps decision-makers better understand what's working, what's not and where change is needed.

The survey is for people with disability, family members, carers and supporters as well as people who work in the disability sector. You can complete the survey more than once if you fit into more than one of these groups.

Take part here πŸ”— https://qdn.org.au/voq-2026/

Queenslanders with Disability Network

The 2026 Voice of Queenslanders with Disability Survey is off to the strongest start in the survey’s history.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and help shape decisions across Queensland.

So far, we're hearing from people with chronic illness or ongoing pain, people with psychosocial disability and people living in cities.

We'd welcome more responses from:

- people under 40
- people with intellectual disability
- people in rural and remote areas
- First Nations people
- families, carers and sector workers.

Please take part here https://qdn.org.au/voq-2026/ Accessible formats and support are available

It is open for another 7 weeks to 17 April 2026.

Yesterday we were proud to host the ARC Creatives' Book Launch & Exhibition at the ARC Community Hall! πŸ’™πŸŽ¨πŸ“š

The afternoon showcased a vibrant exhibition of artwork and children’s books, with works from Trent Griffin (The Kindest Goat), Darren Smith (Friends at First Sight) and Andrew Barton & Imogen Lambeth (Frank the DJ). It was wonderful to share these stories and illustrations with family, friends and community members.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event a success!

This event was made possible by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cairns Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Australia.

Huge thanks to Cairns State Special School for sharing this lovely snapshot of how the IERC mobile service comes to life in classrooms.
From "treasure chest on wheels" moments to try-before-you-buy discoveries, this is exactly what the service is designed to do for our schools - help educators find the right tools to support learning for every student. 🧩

Today marks Natasha Rivett’s 24th Anniversary at ARC. πŸŽ‰

With a decade of experience within the disability sector, Natasha started with ARC as the Residential Respite Coordinator in 2002!

Since that time Natasha has established ARCs first ever supported independent living arrangement, worked with older parent carers, ensured that all people with disabilities and their families/support networks were welcome and supported in a way that would best suit them.

ARC is proud to have Natasha as our Deputy CEO overseeing all aspects of service delivery, still with the same human rights, person centred approach, with the passion, professionalism and dedication of the incredible person who started back in 2002!

Thank you Tash! 😊
