Cairns Region Local Disaster Management Group advises people in the Cairns Regional Local Government Area to MONITOR CONDITIONS for severe weather that is approaching.
In a life-threatening situation, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Sand and Sandbags for mitigating flood risk are available from Cairns Region transfer stations during normal hours.

The Bureau of Meteorology advises a tropical low is approaching the northeast Queensland coast over the next few days.
It is expected to bring locally intense rainfall and damaging winds from later today (Friday) continuing over the weekend. Conditions may ease on Saturday evening north of Innisfail.
Locally intense rainfall causing flash flooding and dangerous driving conditions. Six hourly rainfall totals between 90 to 100mm with isolated falls more than 250mm possible.
Damaging winds causing debris like fallen trees, powerlines could come down, and the power could go out. Winds averaging 65km/h with wind gusts to 90km/h.
โข BoM has issued a Tropical Cyclone Advice and track map for this tropical low.
โข There is no current risk of tide exceeding Highest Astronomical Tide (HAT).
โข Separate flood warning for Mulgrave and Russell River and marine warnings are available from the Bureau of Meteorology Queensland website.

โข Households should keep a store of drinking water to prepare for any disruptions to water supply. In the event water supply is temporarily unavailable, collect rainwater or use pool water for flushing toilets.
โข If living near water ways, preparing your home for risk of surface water inundation.
โข Park your car under cover and away from trees, powerlines, and flood risk.
โข Secure and store loose outdoor items, such as outdoor furniture, trampolines and roofing material.
โข Prepare for potential power outages.
โข Review your usual transport routes and consider possibility of isolation with low lying bridges and roads.
โข Share this information with friends, family, and neighbours.

โข Use your Person-Centred Emergency Plan now if you have one.
โข Make sure you have medication close by and accessible.
โข If anyone in your house uses powered medical equipment, like a dialysis machine or ventilator, decide now How you will manage/where you will go in case you lose power.
โข Call your support person or service to organise transport if you need to leave. Leaving early is safer than waiting.
If you are a tourist, visitor, camper or caravanner:
โข Campers and caravanners should ask the campground owners whether your site/grounds flood.
โข Check road conditions and plan your route should you need you leave.
โข Be ready to move if the situation gets worse.
โข Check your surroundings of water catchments and monitor for flash flood.
