ITS CHEESEBALL DAY!

Cheese ball is a hors d'oeuvre, of American origin that is a type of cheese spread. It first appeared in the 1940s, fell out of fashion, and then had a resurgence in popularity in the 21st century.

Typically made from grated hard cheese and softened cream cheese, sometimes with some sort of binder such as mayonnaise; the mixture is shaped, chilled to resolidify, and often rolled in nuts, seeds, or herbs to provide a decorative finish. It is often served with crackers or crudites at holiday parties.

This Purple Day on March 26th, the focus is on reducing stigma, sharing stories, and wearing purple to support people living with epilepsy.

If someone is having a seizure:

💜 Stay calm and move nearby objects away

💜 Cushion their head and loosen tight clothing around the neck

💜 Once the seizure has stopped, if the person is unresponsive and breathing normally, position into their side, lateral recumbent position.

💜 Call emergency services if the seizure lasts longer than five minutes, repeats, or if it's their first seizure.

Note: A seizure that occurs in water is a life-threatening situation. If this happens, call 000 immediately.

Learning how to respond confidently and support someone with epilepsy can make all the difference.

Autumn is here!

The days grow shorter, the wind gets cooler and leaves start to fall.
Autumn is many people’s favourite season, but it also brings plenty of opportunities for accidents and injuries. The falling of debris and the blanket of darkness may put people in danger without realizing it.

Autumn activities can cause a wide range of injuries, including muscle strain and back pain from yard work, broken bones from falls and head trauma from road accidents.
This time of the year, many people visit the hospital for treatment associated with these injuries. However, most are preventable with few simple precautions.

From illness to injury, there are seasonal changes that might directly impact health and wellness. Take these first aid precautions to protect yourself and others.
