Are you - or someone you love - on the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and finding your needs have changed?

You’re not alone. Many older Australians reach a point where CHSP no longer provides the consistency, hours, or clinical care needed to stay safe and comfortable at home.

The good news is that you may be eligible for a Support at Home package — and our team can help guide you through the reassessment process with ease and compassion. 💛

If you’re struggling to access services, feeling less steady on your feet, or finding daily tasks more tiring than before, it might be time to explore your options.

Today is World Cancer Day.

On this occasion, we would normally post to recognise the day and the people—friends, family, clients, and colleagues—who have been affected by cancer.

But today, we wanted to take a moment to highlight one of our incredible team members, Julie, who is a cancer survivor.

This morning, we all arrived at the office to find pink roses and a note in honour of World Cancer Day, a gift from Julie.

The note reads: "You could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. Whatever you do today, do it with kindness in your heart."

Here at Home Care Assistance, we have sadly lost some beautiful clients to cancer, and we have supported many others who have been affected by it. Our team has also experienced cancer in our own lives—through loved ones, and in some cases, personally.

Today, we pause to remember those we’ve lost, to honour those who continue to fight, and to remind ourselves to always lead with kindness and compassion.

These are the values we live by every day. đź’—

🌟 Meet Nick Coutts — our 2025 Care Worker Champion of the Year on the Sunshine Coast.

Nick’s path into aged care wasn’t planned. From yoga teacher training in India to volunteering with a su***de awareness charity on the Sunshine Coast, his journey has always been guided by kindness, presence and a genuine desire to help others.

A simple conversation led Nick to Home Care Assistance and six years on, he’s become one of our most respected and admired care workers. In 2025, Nick was proudly named Champion of the Year at our Care Worker Awards, recognising the incredible impact he has on clients and colleagues alike 🏆

Nick believes the heart of care work is simple: be present, listen well, and find joy in the small moments.
From heartfelt conversations to unforgettable chess matches, it’s these connections that make his work so meaningful.

💬 “You’re making a difference every single day and you meet some amazing people along the way,” Nick says.

Loneliness can affect anyone, especially older adults who face mobility changes, grief, or family living far away. At this time of year, many seniors feel the quiet a little more deeply — and staying socially connected becomes so important for emotional wellbeing.

At Home Care Assistance, we believe meaningful connection is at the heart of healthy ageing. That’s why our carers focus on companionship, conversation and community engagement.

At Home Care Assistance, social wellbeing is a key part of our Balanced Care Method™, and our monthly HCA Connect events help clients stay engaged, supported and connected to community.

🌻 Meet Wonderful Wendy — a true heart of our Sunshine Coast team.

Wendy is a proud Gureng Gureng woman from the Wide Bay region whose journey in aged care has been guided by family, culture and community for more than 25 years.

From her early days supporting older Australians in Caloundra, to being affectionately nicknamed “Wonderful Wendy” by a much-loved client, Wendy’s kindness, listening ear and genuine care have left a lasting impact on everyone she meets.

After nearly seven years as a care worker with Home Care Assistance, Wendy now continues her calling as our Office Administrator — the friendly face, calm organiser and welcoming voice that keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

💬 “Sometimes all someone needs is for you to sit and listen,” Wendy says — a belief that shines through in everything she does.

Wendy’s story is a beautiful reminder that aged care is more than a job — it’s about connection, respect and making a difference every single day.
