At Reflection Psychology, we provide comprehensive ADHD assessments for both adults and children at our Melbourne clinics in Camberwell and McKinnon.

Our experienced team of psychologists understand the complexities of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and are here to guide individuals and families through the process with clarity, compassion and clinical expertise.

Understanding whether ADHD or ADD is present can offer valuable insight into behaviour, focus, emotional regulation and learning. Whether you’re seeking answers for yourself, your child or a family member, our assessments are tailored to each individual and grounded in best-practice psychological testing.

Approximately 15-20% of population has a neurological difference. Instead of labelling people with deficits or disorders, when we use the term neurodiversity, we take a balanced view of an individual’s unique strengths and challenges.

Many challenges neurodivergent people face are more to do with the environment and systems they are placed in, often designed by a majority population.

One of the biggest gifts you can give someone is your presence. If you've still got one eye or hand on your phone when your partner comes home or when you're out at dinner, it's interrupting your connection.

Make the effort to put it down or put it away, and be fully present.

A core part of a psychologist’s role is determining which type of assessment is most appropriate.

📌A cognitive assessment focuses on intellectual skills like memory, problem-solving, and processing speed.

📌An educational assessment evaluates academic performance across key learning areas.

Our educational assessments psychologists in Camberwell and McKinnon often use both types in a combined format. This helps identify whether academic difficulties stem from cognitive processing issues, emotional stress, attention problems, or specific learning disorders like dyslexia or dyscalculia.

This International Women’s Day, we proudly support the 2026 theme, Balance the Scales, a call to ensure every woman and girl is safe, heard, and free to shape her own future.

Across Australia and around the world, many still face discrimination, gender-based violence, and structural barriers that limit access to justice and opportunity. Inequality is not just a social issue, however; it is a mental health issue, with lasting impacts on wellbeing, safety, and self-worth.

We believe these barriers are built, and therefore can be dismantled. When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, and communities thrive.

In times of heavy headlines and constant updates about conflict and crisis, it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed.

Protecting your mental health during periods of war and negative news isn’t about ignoring reality, it’s about caring for yourself so you can stay grounded, informed, and resilient. Here are some tips:

> Limit your news intake: Choose specific times to check updates instead of scrolling all day.

> Curate your feed. Mute or unfollow accounts that amplify panic. Follow sources that share balanced information.

> Come back to your body. Step outside. Take slow breaths. Move. Stretch.

> Stay connected. Even a short conversation can remind you that you’re not alone in how you’re feeling.

> Allow your emotions without judgment. Sadness, anger, fear, numbness: all are valid responses. You don’t have to justify your feelings.

> Take meaningful action, if you can. Donate, volunteer, amplify credible resources, or support affected communities.

Trauma and stress live in the nervous system. To help regulate it, try grounding practices – some of our favourites are walking outside, taking slow breaths with a longer exhale, or simple yoga to move and stretch the body.

What's your go-to grounding practise? We'd love to hear!
