What a privilege to present today for Cecchetti Victoria at their Teacher’s refresher day at fabulous VCASS studios.

Alongside my fabulous partner in crime, Anne Butler, I had the joy of sharing The Eyes Have It! A conversation piece rather than a lecture, inviting teachers to pause, reflect, and really consider the stories our eyes tell.

We spoke about the eyes as a visual microphone, capable of expressing emotion, intention and story at different volume levels. Eyes are not just performance tools, but vital contributors to focus, gaze, awareness, balance and connection in dance.

The room was alive with curiosity, generosity and insight. The teachers were incredible, the discussion flowed, and our two beautiful students helped bring the ideas to life in the most honest way.

I closed with the following excerpt from Indian classical dance scripture — the heart of it all:

Where the hand is, the eyes follow.
Where the eyes go, the mind follows.
Where the mind is, there is the feeling.
Where the feeling is, there is mood.

So I left the room with this question:
If the eyes lead the mind, and the mind leads feeling, where do I want my eyes to go, and what stories do I want them to tell?

A huge thank you to Cecchetti Victoria for the invitation and the warmth of today, and to Anne for sharing this journey with me.
Here’s to taking the blinkers off!

World Tutu Day at InSync

Today we’re celebrating not just tutus, but costume, creativity, culture, and the many chapters that make up our fabulous InSync team.

From first tutus to stage costumes, national dress to performance wear. These photos reflect moments from different ages, stages, and seasons of life. Each one tells a story of where our love of movement began (or evolved), and how it continues to shape who we are today.

World Tutu Day is a reminder that dance lives far beyond one style or tradition. It’s about expression, memory, joy, and connection.

We hope this brings a smile, a little nostalgia, and maybe a spark of inspiration
Happy World Tutu (and Costume) Day!

I am so excited to be presenting at the CECCHETTI BALLET AUSTRALIA - VICTORIAN TEACHERS REFRESHER COURSE SUNDAY 8TH FEBRUARY, 2026 - VCASS

LET’S TAKE THE BLINKERS OFF
Anne Butler/ Narelle Forbes

Anne and Narelle will explore the use of eyes to lead the dancers in a direction of movement both artistically and anatomically. The dancer’s gaze offers balance, alignment and multi directional movement that is often neglected in their training. Let us explore this concept using the second set of Enrico Cecchetti’s devised port de bras. As Sir Frederick Ashton espoused in relation to Cecchetti’s carriage of the arms, “all dancers should daily do the wonderful port de bras”. As the eyes are the “window of the soul”, come join us in finding the view.

Day of Mourning – Bondi

Today we pause to acknowledge the Day of Mourning for the lives lost in Bondi.

Our hearts are with those who passed, with their families and loved ones, and with everyone in the community affected by this tragedy. We hold space for grief, reflection, and compassion, and we stand alongside all those mourning today.

Sending love, strength, and quiet support during this deeply difficult time. 🤍

What an utterly heart-lifting Saturday up in Ballarat at the Kerry Moore School of Ballet. Days like this are another beautiful example of why I love the work I do, and how it complements the many different ways I get to support dancers and teachers throughout the week.

Two gorgeous groups of ballet students, first 9–12 then 13-15 — each one curious, engaged, and so beautifully present in the process. What truly made me smile was that at the end of every session, every single dancer could articulate something they had learned and something they were going to take away. That level of reflection and ownership at such young ages is just magic.

The private sessions that followed were just as special. Four thoughtful dancers wanting to understand their bodies better and refine the little technical things they were curious about. That intention and willingness to explore the why behind their movement is such a joy to support.

And then, a meaningful full-circle moment, seeing ballet teachers I once learned from, and recognising how their words and ways of thinking helped shape my work ethic and my respect for the craft.

This day was a beautiful continuation of the work we do through InSync Physiotherapy & Pilates — whole-body integration, thoughtful conditioning, and supporting dancers to feel informed and connected in their classwork.

If your dance school is interested in 60–90 minute group sessions or private technique integration sessions, I’d love to chat. These workshops can be delivered across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, bringing this work directly into your studio.

Can you believe it?!
We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of the InSync community. Together, we raised an incredible $3,110 for Make-A-Wish Australia — what an amazing outcome!

This truly would not have been possible without the wonderfully generous contribution from Olive Grove IT, who matched our donations and helped make this result even more meaningful. We are so grateful for your support and kindness.

Because of you, we’ll be helping make wishes come true for children doing it tough - bringing more joy, hope and light into 2026 and beyond.

From all of us at InSync, thank you for showing up, giving generously, and making such a beautiful difference.
Our hearts are full.
