🤍✨☯️The YIN & YANG of women's hormones! ☯️🤍✨Every month, Women's hormones perform an intricate dance together to create a menstrual cycle. As a woman, Every single day your hormones are different, influencing your energy, mood, skin, digestion, pain, sleep and so much more.
Hormones influence EVERYTHING!
In Chinese medicine, we see this delicate balance of hormones through the lens of Yin and Yang.
Ideally, our cycle will be balanced, we will have a regular, painless cycle every month.
When we don't live in harmony with our hormones, the delicate balance of Yin and Yang will be disrupted and disharmony will occur.
This can show up as irregular, painful cycles, irregular ovulation, PMS, migraines, digestive problems, bleeding that is too heavy or too light, problems sleeping, anxiety or depression.
I wanted to share a beautiful visual representation of the difference one month of acupuncture can make to a woman's cycle. This cycle was seemly similar from the outside, the same length, ovulation occured on the same day, however there are remarkable differces energetically and hormonally between the month she did not have Acupuncture and the month directly after where she did have Acupuncture!!
You can see a much more distinct Pre-ovulatory (follicular) phase and Post-Ovulatory Phase, as well as a beautiful clear surge in the middle where ovulation occured.
This is such an amazing visual to show the power of your body and how it thrives with the right guidance! Also a wonderful reminder that sometimes when you start a treatment plan with Acupuncture, you might not see a complete/obvious change in the early days, but your BODY is working under the surface and is thanking you!

✨ DIGESTION, IMMUNITY, AND ENERGY LEVELS NEED SOME TLC? ✨

Meet Acupuncture point, ✨ STOMACH 36 ✨

Stomach 36// Zusanli in Pinyin translates to Leg 3 Miles.
It was said to help the soldiers of the Ancient Chinese armed forces to be able to keep pushing the extra distance despite fatigue and injury.

In clinic today, I love to use this point to access deep nourishment, grounding and energy when we feel like we can't go on any longer. In Chinese medicine it is one of the most powerful points to help Tonify Qi (energy) and blood.

🤍 It is also a wonderful point for:
• Post Viral Fatigue (very handy at the moment 🤫🦠)
• All digestive issues (nausea, reflux, bloating, pain, poor appetite, bowel issues etc)
• IBS
• Increase immunity
• Stamina and general fatigue.
• Dizziness, insomnia, depression, shortness of breath.
And so much more!

If youre a patient of mine, it's more than likely you've had this point in one of your treatments. It's like chicken soup for the mind, body and soul.🤍

R U OK?

I didn't feel I could write a post for R U OK day this year, as it felt so clear that most of us are not OK.

As a person who is privileged to support beautiful people in my community I realised it's important for me to share & reflect on my experience during the last few months.

During this lockdown, I have seen an overwhelming deterioration in people's mental health.

I have seen my patients go through the toughest things a human can go through, without the company of their loved ones, feeling isolated & alone.

This post is an acknowledgement of the hardships I have seen people go through and to know I feel them with you.

To the people to cannot see their loved ones, who cannot visit a sick family member or friend, to those who have had indescribable losses and do not have the comfort of human connection to get them through their darkest days.

To those who have to honour the life of a lost loved one through a screen and hold their grief alone.

The ones who have had to go back on medications to get through another day.

The ones who have lost their purpose and can't continue their passions.

To the people who lost jobs they love, and the ones who felt forced into a medical intervention to keep supporting their families.

To the people living with chronic illness who cannot get treatment.

To those who have tried for so long and had to put their plans and dreams to have a family on hold.

To the women who could not have the birth they dreamt of.

To those who have brought a new life into this world and cannot share their joy with the people they love.

The ones who have put off their weddings multiple times.

To those who have lost relationships due to differences in opinion.

To those who have lost life, love, hope.

I can't wait for the moment that a hug is not feared, we can see each other's smiles & share moments together again.

Prioritise your mental health, do what makes you happy, turn off screens, create, move, get out in nature, reconnect to yourself! 🤍

We are in this together. Be kind & reach out to your loved ones.

Energy // Qi ✨

Lately I've been really trying to focus on what I can do to spend and preserve my energy more mindfully.
Your energy is your life force (Qi). We have to have a balance of things we do that enrich our Qi or deplete out Qi. Many of us live predominantly in the 'energy taking' side. This can lead to many imbalances in our bodies (ESPECIALLY for Women).

• digestive symptoms
• fatigue
• headaches
• poor sleep
• hormonal imbalance (painful, heavy/light, irregular/missing periods)
• weight gain/loss
• body pain
• skin flare-up

If you're noticing imbalances in your body and you're living mainly in the 'energy taking' list, try prioritising enriching activities in your day and see if you notice changes.
If you need a little bit of extra help, acupuncture and herbs are amazing for balancing the mind body and spirit 🤍✨

Pancakes, but make it
* H E A L T H Y *✨🍓🍌

It's 2021 people, we are ready for feel good foods that keep us full and energised! (That are still yummy! & Quick & easy cause we don't have time to mess around).
The whole process from start to getting in my belly was about 15 mins! 👏

I basically made up/ eyeballed this recipe and did what 'felt right'.
But I'll do my best!

🥞 RECIPE:
Makes about 6 medium/large pancakes.

• 1 cup of Oats (if you're gluten free, try to find gluten free oats or another flour maybe almond or coconut)
• 1 large ripe banana
• 1 egg
• optional 1 tablespoon of greek yoghurt (can sub for coconut yoghurt)
• water/milk/ plant based milk
• You can also get creative here and add cinnamon or maybe even some chia seeds? But I kept this one super simple.

📖Method:

I made the whole batter with one blender (so you should get away with only dirtying one appliance) 😜

• Blend oats alone (dry) until they make a flour-y consistency.

• Then add banana, and Greek yoghurt with about half a cup of water or plant milk & Blend until ingredients combined.

• Lastly add your egg, and blend for a short amount of time until combined.

Then just heat your pan, and oil it with your fat of choice (I used butter, but you can use a bit of coconut oil, or vegan butter).
Cook until golden brown and serve on a plate with berries, bananas or whatever you like!
Maple syrup is definitely recommend!

Enjoyyy!!!
Let me know if you make them!

Merry Christmas 🎄✨
Wishing all my patients a belated Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!
This year was different in every way, including how we spent Christmas. Hoping you all got to enjoy some time off, however that looked for you. 🎄
I spent most of my day with my immediate family, eating beautiful food, playing board games, cuddling my doggy and making memories.
This is the time of year I feel extra grateful for the year gone past, my friends, family and my 'job'.
I am so thankful for all of you who have put your trust in me to guide you on your health journey.
Feeling extra grateful.
❤️🎄✨

Lots of love,
Sabrina ###
